Because Germany knows it will have to pay for it, and that is not what the EU and single currency is for as it’s the mechanism to allow unfettered German exports and growth......

I read a very interesting article in The Times magazine today, all about the planning that Liam Fox's team are doing behind the scenes. To paraphrase the main man, (not Fox), they are not arsed about the politics in the HOC, just pressing on and selling the UK to the Far East, mainly. Bullish does not get close to how the team feel.

Was a bit uplifting that some, well more than some, in the Department for International Trade, seem to be excited about the work they are doing.

Thankfully, he is a million miles away from anything remotely important.

The Sunday Times mag article is worth a peek mate. It strips the politics right out of what the Dept are working on.
I’ll have a gander mate.

Unfortunately he’s not a million miles away from it mate, I’ve been having a look at some of the extremely murky money and ‘experts’ behind some of the right wing ‘think tanks’ that try and pass themselves off as expert onlookers. The more you look the more it starts to look extremely suspect. I’m no lover of a conspiracy theory but the sheer illogical stance has to have a driver and it’s starting to scream disaster capitalism to me. A deregulated, low taxation, market lead cesspit. There’s money to be made........lots of it.

Pete, out of interest, how do you propose planes will fly to/from Europe in the event of a no deal strop? How will medicines or nuclear materials be managed? You've chided numerous people here for apparent childishness in the past few days, but surely you can appreciate that a no deal scenario is the ultimate in petulance?

I’ve no idea mate. I expect the Irish owned Ryanair will just do what it does and the Spanish IAG/ British Airways will just do what it does, as they are European but we’ll let them continue. Meanwhile German, French and Dutch airlines might have a bit of a problem..

Medicines will be managed as they always have been, as I assume that apart from the agency, which will be replaced as the people want to be in London anyway, that life will just go on.

In terms of nuclear material, for which the U.K. is the major processor and storer of material, that we might send some material back to Europe.

A no deal scenario is the ultimate of Eu bureaucratic incompetence......

Ever heard of Euroatom? Thought not....

The thing is, they should be doing that anyway. Literally the only thing the government need that the EU doesn't allow them at the moment is to make trade easier. They should be out promoting British firms as a matter of course.

With respect, you can't just say 'we'll figure something out', as we have six months and counting to do so or all of the things you mention get royally disrupted (ie planes not being able to enter/arrive from EU airspace. That's what crashing out with no deal means. It's got bugger all to do with who owns Heathrow or British Airways, but the shared rules we've developed within the EU to allow countries to function alongside each other. We say sod it and those rules become null and void.

Of course. But as a Remainer, I was encouraged at the energy and drive the article came across as.

Which planes, the Irish owned ones or the Spanish owned ones landing at the Spanish owned U.K. airports.....
