No Joe. The reason we "run short" on occasions is because the demand for electricity is very easily predictable because 99% of businesses and people use roughly the same every day of the week, and at the same times of the day.

So when a spike in demand is predicted or encountered its cheaper and easier to borrow some.

On the wider issue of our nuclear programme being behind the curve, I share that view. IMO we should have done what France did 20 or 30 years ago, and built loads. We didnt, so we are where we are.

Either way, energy supply is not a burning (sic) issue in the Brexit story. Unless we are not allowed to borrow EU energy. But I am sure that was all sorted out and everyone who voted to Leave knew that.
Imagine when all the cars plug in after a days work...........

They’ll charge off peak, in fact the technology is being worked on that will see the cars feeding back into the grid during peak useage and then charging off peak. Fully electric cars will increase their market share exponentially in about 2 years time.......

Eh? Do you not even understand the simple concept of off peak demand?

Keep laughing smiler as there’s yet another fact incoming

Oh and btw the technology required for the customs system you allude to definitely doesn’t exist and is yet another Brexiteers Unicorn as of today.

Sweden are building roads that charge electric cars as they travel along them

Yeah seen that mate. Denmark have gone from full EV’s being about 5% of all new cars sold to 60% in about 5 years. Driven by subsidies in fairness but the cost of battery production is coming down the level were EV’s will soon have the range and price that will transform the U.K. market.

Joey it is very difficult to organize a customs regime using technology designed to propel a moving vehicle by any means, electrical, mechanical, or steam.

That is why when you come back from a flight there isn't a traction engine sat checking your passport.

From the FT:

What is becoming ever clearer is that many Brexiters have no Plan B, as Chris Wilkins, Mrs May’s former speech writer, illustrated this week. He recalled how, on a tense flight home from the UN in New York last year, he and the prime minister’s team were grappling with a complicated section of what became Mrs May’s Florence speech last September, which tried to devise a new regulatory relationship.

“As we did so, the former foreign secretary pulled me to one side,” he recalled. “I awaited his words of wisdom. ‘You know Chris,’ Mr Johnson said. ‘We’ve just got to get out. We can worry about all this other stuff later.’

“Stunned that this was all one of the main architects of Brexit had to offer, all I could say was: ‘You know what Boris, I’d noticed.’”
