Mining also causes such earth tremors and usually involves loss of life.....should we ban mining.....

No i never said that but they are in a massive decline anyway so there is no need.

One of the reason mining has dwindled across the globe with the exception of China of course is safety and the damage caused not just by using coal but by the mines themselves.

Also they now use machinery to do the work of the men and women? Well mainly for profit but it helps not losing people and having to pay out on insurance.

The fact is its a well known fact the dangers of mining like you rightly point out and over the last two decades they have sought to fix many of the issues. With fracking that is not the case. They won't acknowledge the dangers it causes to clean water systems and the dangers of increased siesmic activity.

But like i said the amount of mines still open in the UK and US has halved if not more.

They started losing profits due to better more sustainable power methods and well safety and massive payouts haven't helped their bottom line.

Seemingly nothing if you’re either a Tory land owner or have equity in the fossil fuel sector.

Meanwhile in reality.......do your homework, there’s plenty of information out there, it’s completely unsuitable for our tiny island. If in doubt ask some people have direct experience of it, as I have done.

not doing it when the price of gas has collapsed is another, not inconsiderable, reason - which even our resident Trump should understand

Explain exactly how we’re borderline ‘just keeping the lights on’?

Wtf has use of antibiotics got to do with hormone injections and chlorinated chicken ffs?

In a way he is right, but for the wrong reason. The national grid has obvious pinch points, (half time in a WC Semi for example), and it isnt set up to have a huge surplus of energy in it. Its more designed to match demand.

So at pinch points it routinely borrows power from France to "keep the lights on", (they do the same from us), but not because of some problem with our ability to generate electricity.

edit. Borrowing from France is instant, whereas starting up a power station or increasing output, isnt.

I hope you live near a shale seam and get to find out first hand, as they’re entitled to extend the extraction under the land and houses of people who haven’t given their approval. The smell, the noise, the lorries, the disruption, the environmental risks, it’s industrialisation of the countryside in order to perpetuate our reliance on fossil fuels as opposed to continuing the push towards renewables. I note some of the hard Brexiteers have already started bleating on about how it needs to be speeded up post Brexit to cover some of our shortfall...disaster capitalists ahoy.

So now Brexiteers are anti environmentalists and capitalists......I miss the days when we were just racists.......

I know mate, I was seeing if he did. A no deal Brexit puts the energy that we share with the EU at risk, in addition to the massive issue we’d have if we fell out of Euroatom.

As part of their planning for no deal, they’re intending bringing generators back from Afghanistan and floating them in barges in the Irish Sea to avoid NI facing a blackout. Who voted for that?
