Typical bluster from FLHD if a mod agrees with me it's a test - good job you never worked in my nursery.......

But I didnt agree with you Joe. You said we are close to having the lights going out as if its a shortage in capacity. I said the national grid is designed to match demand, and borrows energy from France to match short term peaks in demand cos its cheaper and easier than firing up a power station for a 15 minute burst of demand.

Totally different.

Cough " in a way he is right"
Why do we need back up because we run short on occasions our nuclear stations are way behind to take up the slack and we inport gas........

No Joe. The reason we "run short" on occasions is because the demand for electricity is very easily predictable because 99% of businesses and people use roughly the same every day of the week, and at the same times of the day.

So when a spike in demand is predicted or encountered its cheaper and easier to borrow some.

On the wider issue of our nuclear programme being behind the curve, I share that view. IMO we should have done what France did 20 or 30 years ago, and built loads. We didnt, so we are where we are.

Either way, energy supply is not a burning (sic) issue in the Brexit story. Unless we are not allowed to borrow EU energy. But I am sure that was all sorted out and everyone who voted to Leave knew that.
