A lot of Brexit voters playing the "how dare you accuse us of being racist" card.

Lets be honest, a lot (not all) of Brexit voters were swayed by the immigration argument, largely down to being ill informed by both sides or the debate (not to mentioned the Murdoch media).

That's not to say every Brexit voter is a massive racist, but it is to say that those with vested interests in leaving used fear of immigration to get their own way.

We're out now, so we'll have to live with it and make the most of it, but that doesn't mean Remain voters can't point out the bleeding obvious regarding the massive role immigration played in this result.

But people who come to this country come from all races. Or does the term race mean something else now.

On August 9, 1965, Singapore was unceremoniously ejected from its union with Malaysia and left with a tattered economy and an uncertain future. The picture shows the then president Lee Kwan Yew crying on national television when announcing the results of his discussions with the Malaysian government. Although the situation in the UK is different, many of us (especially the youth) are feeling similar thoughts of despair. But there is hope. After this historical event in Singapore, LKY led his racially divided island to become one of the worlds economic powerhouses and most thriving trade ports. My point is that with all the doom and gloom surrounding this referendum, a bright future awaits us if only we are prepared to fight for it.

Singapore have had a technocratic dictatorship for the duration of that period. There's a lot to suggest that this dictatorship has ensured things are very well run, but they've also stamped down on various freedoms that I suspect we take for granted. They aren't perhaps the example many on here would choose to follow.

Pfft - put on the spot. Nobody knows the precise details of everything EU. Couldn't name one president or official, could name about 12 countries tops.

Agree with common sense - your definition varies from mine though.

You're right. Nobody knows - so lets not be so definite with the doom and gloom narrative?

Consider this - if this week you were so well off on the basics like how many EU countries there are, chances are, you could be well off on what the future outside the EU means.

House prices are RIDICULOUS for people not on the ladder, I am looking to re-fix my mortgage pretty sharpish before my LTV slopes back off too far. However those who have bust a gut to get on it in recent years could be staring instantly at negative equity.

I am reading that a lot of people pulling out of sales this morning to 'wait and see' as it's likely the prices will drop off, is this worth considering before you complete?

Shocking isn't it mate? I have younger sisters and currently, I can't see how they'll ever afford their own home.

What's moaning about it going to do now? The decision has been made. The quicker people look to the future and adjust accordingly the better. Should've, would've, could've.

I don't think it's over personally. If there's a recession, political pressure to reverse will happen. And Scotland will be a massive problem.

Two to three years is a long time in politics; especially when the outright lies are revealed over the next few months.

It's not free movement of labour; it's "people". To live or work. The right of entry and residence applies to everyone, including those without an economic activity in the host country.

People really don't understand this.

The treaties all refer to labour, though the ECJ has managed to extend it to most people. Technically though the economically unproductive without being able to support themselves are only allowed to stay for three months.

But people who come to this country come from all races. Or does the term race mean something else now.

I don't follow your point here, are you arguing that immigration wasn't a key factor?

Of course there is immigration from outside of the EU, but people have been sold the myth that their immigration fears will be resolved over night by voting Brexit.

He's a turd. Wonder what our brothers over the pond reckon to that speech?!
I would be amazed if there was any speech, from any side, that boosted leave as much as that did.

I like Obama, and he has been a much better President than Bush - but saying to a country that has just spent fifteen years, billions of pounds and hundreds of its citizens lives backing the US up that it can get to the back of the queue when it comes to trade deals was just incredibly offensive.

You're right. Nobody knows - so lets not be so definite with the doom and gloom narrative?

Consider this - if this week you were so well off on the basics like how many EU countries there are, chances are, you could be well off on what the future outside the EU means.

So because I didn't know on the spot that 28 countries were in the EU on an on the spot question, researched views about everything and anything else is invalid?

Sound.

This thread should make for tremendous vaulting in years to come.

I hope by then, I've achieved my ambition of living in Canada.

They cope just fine - as many others do - outside of the EU - an institution not replicated anywhere else in the world.

I think we'll see more countries leave the EU over the next 10 years...

Canada has a very different history to Britain and the rest of Europe so I'm not really sure how the comparison really works?

No they won't.

But they will cost more and be a lot harder to pay for when you have lost your job and are paying a massive mortgage on a house that is suddenly worth less than the mortgage amount.

Oh wait....

I personally know of many construction companies that have gone under in the last 25 years and an awful lot in the last 7 years making thousands redundant. Losing and creating jobs is nothing new and will never stop.
