She was talking specifically about deals between security services and the military stuff.

But she still said it was unthinkable. Davis' comments clearly imply he thinks it isn't unthinkable for security services and the military. Or it is unthinkable and he just thinks he can gamble the safety of citizens to try and bluff the EU.

The bit I heard was she was responding to a question/scenario that when we leave will the security of the folk in the EU be compromised as a result. She said, to paraphrase, that there would be no situation where the security would be compromised, and no cooperation deals and arrangements between the security forces would be unthinkable.

Think Interpol basically. And NATO.

Its all largely above the economic stuff.

But, that said, it was just a snippet, that happened to be on, as the subject was raised on here.

Soz mate, just read the last bit. No idea what he said. But if he reckons that using that card is in anyway helpful, he is a tit.

In fact, the security stuff we help out with, should be just lobbed in as a Gratis, "we are leaving, but our commitment to our mutual security should be taken as read. Whatever deal we make between us, our security commitment will remain" Free Pass.

Well, I spent about 40 years working with companies and people across Europe in Germany, Spain, Italy etc, less so dealing with East Europeans, so I do have a little experience and knowledge. I also found that my views hit a chord with many in regards to the Euro and who the main beneficiary was. The issues/ solutions raised during the banking crisis for Greece, Ireland, etc were effectively dictated by Germany and specifically by Wolfgang Schäuble who led the EU finance ministers group. The U.K. did indeed head up the odd ministry but if you look at EU staffing, the nations of Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Spain have 2,3,4 or even 5 times of their nationals working there as opposed to the UK, even Romania has more than the U.K...... If you really believe that Germany and France do not effectively dictate EU policy then you are naive......

You worked in defence Pete. It has to be one of the most political industries possible. Are you really surprised that you encountered nationally backed opposition, especially in Airbus?

As for influence, just wait until we leave and see what language EU affairs are conducted in to see one whopping great influence we've had.

It's funny, you say how great Britain is, whilst at the same time believing we had no influence on the EU.

Which bit of ‘it’s a negotiation’ do you not understand. Davis is negotiating against the EU and 27 countries, meanwhile Labour, Scotland, Wales and the remoaner class are doing their very best to undermine our country’s negotiating position. In previous times it would have been called for what it is, treason. We are leaving the EU, these negotiations will affect every single person in our country and it is incredibly important that we get a good deal. The way to do this is to keep all options open. Normally it would also help if our own people were not fighting for the other side. Remember that this treacherous behaviour will cost every person real money, your money, our money. It’s about time people grew up and realised exactly whose side they should be on, this is not a game or a bit of fun, this is deadly serious....".

And at a stroke, you have proved what an utterly reckless decision to vote leave was.

I also worked in Electrical and Electronics, Telecommunications, Rail, Power, Medical and Civil, so I understand competitive as well as the political industries.

I couldn’t care what language Europe adopts, as you suggest it’ll probably be English but who cares because French and German are mere periphery languages and their adoption will do them no favours....speaking English has nothing to do with the EU or our influence, this issue was settled a long time ago......

One of the reasons we have little influence is purely because of historical competition. France has always tried to compete and Germany’s attempts usually ended in war and destruction, so now they can outvote us they are enjoying it.

As far as I’m concerned we are pretty good, a small island with a small population with a reputation, military, political and economic clout out of all proportion, what’s not to like......even our weather is pretty decent........

And at a stroke, you have proved what an utterly reckless decision to vote leave was.

I see it differently. But I also see our own people attempting to undermine our decision. Even you have previously said it’s important for a strong government to see us through these negotiations.......

Of course, forecasts are not facts just a view at a certain point in time, just like their latest view. However suggesting that they merely got the timeframe wrong is the equivalent of suggesting that Everton will now start winning in late November, or maybe January.......

Many on here will predict that Everton will perform better without Koeman. The timing of if / when he is binned will therefore influence the timing of when people think the results will improve.

I presume you want him gone. Bloody non contributing EU migrant.

I hope he succeeds, but if not then a change may be required. I judge people on their ability, contribution and results, not on nationality, colour or sex......

The hypocrisy of somebody who voted leave trying to lecture on that point. Superb.

If you want to blather on about treason look in the mirror. Voting leave itself will do far more damage to this country than people who have the temerity to challenge the governments decisions.

(There was me thinking we were leaving to take back control of our democracy :coffee:)

It’s ok, you’re young, you don’t understand...you didn’t realise what you were voting for....you were lied to by the remainers and the EU....
