Give the 6 counties in the north of Ireland back to Ireland and that would solve the border problem.

A lot of the 'types' that voted for Brexit will be against that also.

So you want the Republic to do the policing for the north?
and any EU resident is officially allowed in to the north but not the rest of the UK?

Edit. sorry, popped out and your crazy idea has since been pulled to pieces many times.

Clearly an after thought or not a thought at all when they brought up brexit at the off.

The very fact they had no seed of a plan for NI tells you how brexit is simply about telling the EU to do one simple as that.

The fact that the pro brexit people on here shrug their shoulders and think NI is a simple fix shows arrogance to be frank.

I have always thought that England had contempt for its home nations and the more i hear brexit people talk about the case of NI and Scotland and the smugness not to consider the actual facts from the "other side" shows.

That's about the size of it Pete yes, that's exactly what I'm saying

As there would be no practical way of refunding the value of an individual companies tariff payments without making it an obvious Govt subsidy.

Reducing corporation tax or other assorted tax breaks would be universal and would not directly compensate those affected for the cost incurred.

It's a noddy notion, back of a cig packet stuff Pete - much like the rest of Brexit tbh.

I’m sorry mate, but the last lad who worked for me who said that ‘it couldn’t be done’ was unfortunately shown the door, his replacement achieved what was wanted. Anything can be achieved with the right amount of thought, will and money. Anyone who just gives in has just not given it enough thought.......

Or, give the counties of the south back to the North, and that would solve the border problem.......

you don't have to find a solution because you should already have one. Otherwise why vote leave?

Strangely enough, if I decide to have a Chinese meal, and I book a table, I don’t consider the potential number of other customers nor the trading relationships between the restaurant and its suppliers. However with Brexit I did apply a fair amount of thought over several months and weighing up the pro’s and con’s I decided we were better off out. I didn’t work out the benefits for the fishing industry nor the potential problems of air traffic control, but I will bet that no one on here who voted Remain did so either. In fact I would bet that those who voted Leave, with all the issues involved, gave it far more thought than those who voted to stay the same........tell me I’m wrong.......

Hahaha, what a pillock.....I thought Hammond had set a new course with his ‘enemy’ comment, if he then kept his mouth shut he would have been ok, but it now transpires that he has publicly apologised for his use of language. This may go down well with his mates in the EU but I think he may now be toast.......

Northern Ireland will remain in the EU with a customs union and the single market. EU laws, that are enacted in the Republic will be relevant to those in the north with Irish citizenship, and will come under the jurisdiction of the ECJ. In other words, Northern Ireland will not leave the EU.

He says that in America who are engaged in a trade war with Germany. Trump sees the Germans, Mexicans, Iranians, Nafta, TPP, China, Russia, UK financial sector etc. as the enemy. Hammond has been in America for two minutes and he is openly talking the trade war talk.

You are just making this up. You were asked the other day where the Good Friday agreement or any Eu document said this was so, and you didn’t produce it. Just repeating this nonsense is not a valid argument.........

It can’t be done directly, so it could change tax structures, allowances etc etc, I’m sure the thousands of clever people in HMRC will work something out......

Not possible under WTO rules. Tax structures, allowances have to be across the border and cannot be for specific industries. Applying tax adjustments across the board would lead a black hole in the government finances.

But then he showed his real beliefs by apologising.......gutless.......

Of course it can be done, a bit of creativity goes a long way......
