Not disputing that.

I've always said - as has Sturgeon/Hammond - that there will be another referendum and one day, they'll vote for it.

What I'm saying here, is - in this football fans humble opinion - the Scots voted for what they did. They knew there was an EU refendum coming up, Salmonds campaign leveraged that as "We could go out of the EU..."

If/when the EU referendum triggers another Scot referendum, even if they vote remain, there will be another referendum bubbling - it'll never stop.
The problem with your argument is that you ignore the electorate for that referendum.

EU citizens, including the English, Welsh and Irish, and Commonwealth citizens (in other words, people who were not resident in their own countries) were eligible to vote in that referendum. Any Scottish people outside Scotland were not allowed to vote (including a very angry partner of mine).

Now we get to vote for Britain leaving or remaining in the EU. Who is not allowed to vote? Only one million plus British passport holders resident in other EU countries who are going to be some of the most affected by the decision.

Democracy in action. Don't make me laugh.

I honestly believe that leaving the eu will be really bad for this country.

The majority of this country believe differently.

I hope you're right. I hope all the experts were just scare mongering. I hope our economy will recover, that we won't lose our financial services, that we will be able to negotiate better treaties with the 60 or so trading partners we need to. That we will be able to restrict free movement that we won't be faced with tariffs if we try and do that.

I don't want to be right. I want this country, which I love a huge amount, to be prosperous.

So I hope you guys know what you're doing.
Good post mate

I hate to break this to you mate, but our whole economy is dependent on the financial sector.

I wish it wasn't, as it means we're London centric to a ridiculous degree, but the fact remains that if that sector goes elsewhere, the every day man and woman - especially in the north - will take the kick to the nuts for it.

Oh that's not news. Nor is it the entire truth.

Our economy's built on global fraud & corruption, and not much else, thanks to thatcher & reagan. No thanks to bliar & brown who gave them even more leeway to commit their financial chicanery, unfettered.

If I had it my way, there'd be need for a few more prisons to accommodate the city sheeneys. They'd be going nowhere, and most definitely NOT passing 'go'.

lol ...I'm inferring from this that the neo-liberal economic mantra of 'trickle down' hasn't really greased your wheels lol

The tories are out, come the next election. Maybe sooner than we think.

It's that 'manchester gets the lot' attitude that saw manchester get everything. Nice one, hatton & mulhearn

Manchester got and gets a lot because Manchester unashamedly wants and goes out to get a/the lot.

There was a saying when I was a kid growing up in Salford that 'what Manchester does today, the rest of the country does tomorrow'.
And that attitude still prevails.
The powers that be in Manchester whether in commerce, trade and industry or local politics seem to have a more single-minded attitude than a lot of other cities. They actually think and some (genuinely) believe that Manchester is/should be the capital of the North if not the whole country.

You haven't a clue what you're talking about. Those 2000 has absolutely nothing to do with the financial crisis. Unless you find them guilty by association.
Those 2000 are all executives and hotshot traders on 7 figure bonuses, clearly. No regular average people going to lose their jobs because of this.

I think the same as @Allezfan on this.

Thing is, the result isnt actually legally binding. I am no expert, but the commons have to pass an act to make it so.

Or they could force an early election, if enough vote for it, then one party could stand as Pro EU, maybe win enough seats in England and Wales, then form a Government with the SNP.

Quite a way to go.

And here is another thought for the "control of our own borders" angle; you do realise this result means you have created the biggest "Buy one while you can" offer for any EU citizen who may think coming to the UK is a good idea.

This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

It doesn't control our borders any more than it currently does anyway. We have to agree to trade with the EU, because just wow at the thought of not doing so, and if we do we have to obey by the same laws of free movement.

It's mind-boggling to me that the entire argument put forward by Leave was provable lie after lie after lie - and people actually bought it!
