Be interested to see what measure was used to determine that 'loss', given the FTSE100 is around 100 pts higher than it was 4 days ago. It may have plummeted at market open (and since recovered 50% of that drop), but you simply cannot use that in definite terms.

It appears he is taking into account the devalued pound plus the loss within the FTSE 100 coupled with FTSE 250.

I am not an expert on that one so off the cuff I would like to think he was correct but clearly that number is going to fluctuate as the day, week, month goes on.

No matter the actual number its still a hell of a lot of money.

The tories are out, come the next election. Maybe sooner than we think.

It's that 'manchester gets the lot' attitude that saw manchester get everything. Nice one, hatton & mulhearn
all dependent on if corbyn goes and who next leader is, i'd have thought anyone close to middle of the road(burnham, eagle, benn) should win easy

.......Joe Anderson already very concerned about the consequences of Brexit on Liverpool. I fear the EU is more of a friend to our city than Westminster.

This was at the forefront of my voting thought process.

I feel zero national pride but I love this city and I think Europe has treated it better and respects it more than London has/does.

Between this and the Tory government I'm worried about Liverpool.

Y'all leaving the EU is making me worried that Trump may actually win here in the States in November...
Given that the alternative is the insidious Hilary Clinton, it is not inconceivable. I am struggling to determine which of the presidential candidates is the most pernicious to the US (and the world)
But I do know that both are bad options.

...me too. I'm on holiday abroad at the moment but I understand Liverpool voted to remain. Not sure if that's true but folk here are savvy and often Buck the national trend.

...I find this difficult to believe until there is a viable opposition. I fear the best we can hope for is various shades of blue, especially with boundary changes and the likelihood of Scotland leaving.

I've said it before mate, and I'll say it again...

The tories are far too aloof, too arrogant. It's always been their downfall. They'll think they've got carte-blanche now they're free of EU rules, but they're already hated by doctors, nurses, teachers...They daren't go pell-mell with their 'reforms', but they will anyway.

Gidiot said he'll hit the disabled in the event of a brexit...Well, let's see about that - seeing as it took him about 48 hours to recant from the last budget when he wanted to do the same.

Might not be a majority labour Govt next time round, - most likely an SNP/Lab coalition - But the tories will get turfed out.

I'm convinced of it.

...Morgan Stanley bank apparently planning to move 2000 jobs to Dublin.

a note from JP Morgan Firm:
J.P. Morgan has 16,000 employees in the U.K. We are extremely proud of the work they do and our long history in the country. Regardless of today’s outcome, we will maintain a large presence in London, Bournemouth and Scotland, serving local clients as we have for more than 150 years.

The framework of the U.K.’s engagement with the EU, including trade agreements, will be negotiated over a period of years. For the moment, we will continue to serve our clients as usual, and our operating model in the U.K. remains the same.

In the months ahead, however, we may need to make changes to our European legal entity structure and the location of some roles. While these changes are not certain, we have to be prepared to comply with new laws as we serve our clients around the world. We will always do our best to take care of our people and do the right thing during times of change.

Take that how you will but my counterparts over there are worried for their jobs no matter what the CEO says.

**Disclosure, I am employed by the firm* Any views/opinions are my own.

Control of our borders, make our own laws, sending Destroyers into our fishing waters to sink the Spanish and Norwegian trawlers raping our fish stocks, what's not to like?

Heard a Grimsby fisherman saying he was voting to leave because it was demoralising that he was having to throw fish back, and then watch the Spanish taking them all back out.

Sorry mate, completely disagree. I think you underestimate just how toxic Corbyn is to moderate Labour voters.

All he gets are the hipster student crowd (who don't vote anyway) and hard left unionist types. He'd be absolutely leathered in a GE against absolutely anyone the Tories put up against him.
