Japan isolated itself from the world until 1854; within 40 years of it being forced to open up (By the good ol' US of A, no less) it became one of the most belligerent nations on the planet, and is still (to date) the only country to have suffered nuclear attacks.

But they're now the world's 2nd biggest economy, so that makes it alright.

They were still 'loonies' when they were isolated, though.

Japan is doomed as a country due to its low birth rate.
 
Off topic, but the blue here is about as centre as a right wing party gets. They're good for this country.
That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. Generally speaking, and historically as well, National has been a party operating around the fulcrum of the left/right see-saw. And has enjoyed my vote as consequence.
But there has been marked shift to the right under the stewardship of John Key. Schisms in our society are opening which he is either willfully blind toward, or is aiding and abetting.
I had more than ten years of direct business interaction with John Key...and from that personal experience, I can assuredly state that he is not a man 'good for this country'.
