Brexit is happening. The pro's and con's will continue to be debated, UK law will slowly grind out the changes, businesses will adapt and grow, deals will be done or not. But on Friday 29th March 2019 we leave the EU, and we can wish the EU nothing but happiness as they do their own thing and we do ours........

What's that got to do with anything i said? xD

It still amazes me how you're not getting this Pete. If the EU had agreed to fund a bridge in Athens, and that construction was due to take 5 years, then yes, I would imagine they would honour that agreement. It's got bugger all to do with a 'leaving fee'.

So your saying that if Poland were to leave the EU tomorrow then the EU would continue to pour money into Poland until the end of EU budget cycle......hahahahahaha.........who's not getting this Bruce....

Do you really think that the EU would have allowed Greece entry to the Eurozone if they'd have known the extent to which they'd cooked the books and how they intended to use their new found credit rating?

Greece brought about its own issues, you could argue that what's happened since could have been different, but to suggest that the EU is equally culpable in how they got to the point of bankruptcy is nonsense

Greece entered the EU in 1981 after having seen financial growth in the 60's and 70's. The crash in Greek economy didn't happen 'til after they joined the EU.

You missed OK! Off the end of that Pete :)

Did the EU not do any checks ? The EU wanted as many countries in the Euro club as possible. Even now they are trying to strong arm the ones that are not in the Euro into it, such as Romania, Croatia and Bulgaria.....

They did. There are tonnes of articles out there on Greece making their deficit look clean and how they made inflation disappear too. Portugal, Spain and Italy all passed with flying colours also and all of them supposedly did the same thing.

The EU did however realise in 2011 that they needed to tighten it further and dig deeper and they voted and passed a rule to allow this to happen with new members.

But don't let your hate of the EU blind you of the facts.

Did you honestly think Germany and France would bring countries in that could destroy their own ecomony? Really?

Not to say the EU do everything or did everything right but don't pretend they sat back and let all comers in.

Yet now Juncker wants all Eu countries to join the Euro. How does that work......
