It got passed - just like when the EU put treaties on us - no debate of time length then just passed with the henry the V!!! laws in it - no fuss then so why make stories up now like power grab just labour smelling blood - backfired as usual I admire the 7 Labour Mps for pushing it through last night - after all Corbyn did that all his life against his own party!lol
Hypocrisy at its best!
Noticed they were good labour Mps who defied him on a 3 line whip too;)
It's not passed, it got the nod at the first reading, there's plenty of Tory back benchers who'll be tabling amendments - as well as Labour, before it gets it's second reading. Do you even know what's going on Joey?

It works both ways. The UK wants a deal, I've no doubt certain EU countries are desperate for a deal, the only things stopping it is the EU. There will be practical problems utilising WTO rules and many process changes required, but financially, because tariffs would be applied in both directions, we would be able to reimburse UK companies and the exchequer make a few billion to boot, with the EU footing the bill. This is not flippancy.....
Try again - this time focusing on the actual practicalities of having a non frictionless trade border with the EU and what that would actually require in terms of space, systems and resource. There's no chance of us being anywhere near having a solution in place by 2019, seriously go and educate yourself on what it'll need to look like.

By trying to vote a Bill that left the Govt with carte blanche to do what it liked with our statute?

No Pete, this is being twisted by the right wing media and Brexiteers into a supposed affront to democracy, for Labour having the temerity to challenge the repeal bill, which in itself is an affront to our Parliamentary democracy. It's laughable.

I would agree that the right wing press are playing politics with this, just as Labour have done......but the Bill gets a second reading and amendments will be proposed and voted on. Losing the vote on the Bill itself would have had Corbyn demanding the government resign, he can't do that when it comes to getting amendments through, and this is what his 3 line whip was about.....cynical......

I dont have to google my answers last night bill went through - yes it may get amended big deal !
Shame you don't use google more, you might actually end up finding what the reality is, rather than the skewed view that you've conjured up in your head mate. The bill has got through the first vote, and the amendments are the entire point ffs.

I agree, but I will repeat, it works both ways. So either we both sort it out or we both lose. When everyone finally admits that, we may make progress.......there will be more and more calls within Europe to take the sensible course....

But it comes back to the same old point, who suffers more in that scenario? A collective of 27 nations or us as a solitary nation?

The country would grind to a halt as incoming and outgoing goods, produce, components, food etc etc were bulging out of facilities that simply couldn't cope.

Why would the EU show mercy to a country who's more or less just flipped them off?

What is it about being frightened of the number 27. Most of these are tiny countries. I've posted this before.....

Now look at who suffers the most and ask who has the most to lose.....

Because this country has the 5th largest economy in the world, it will be the EU's largest trading partner, its military helps to keep Europe safe, it sits on the UN Security Council, it etc, etc etc.....Now why would they not want to 'show mercy'....

China and the USA will remain the most important trade partners of the EU, and with the newly negotiated deal with Canada and the current negotiations with Japan, the EU won't stand that much worse, not having a favourable trade deal with the UK.

Military help has far more to do with NATO than the EU. You could feel free to leave NATO as well though?

That graph defeats your own argument though, as about half of them aren't going to give a flying one if there's no deal done with the UK before the cliff edge looms large.
