How is it disgraceful, it's completely accurate? I can go back through this thread and that's pretty much the only argument for leaving - you want England isolated away from the EU so it can make its' own decisions, regardless of economic risk.

You can't just change the narrative because you don't like how it looks when it is in black and white in front of you.

It is what it is. You didn't vote to leave for any rational reason beyond "take back control" - it was on every leaflet, every argument - in fact it was the argument.

So embrace it. It's not a stereotype; it's accuracy. Leave voters are generally English who can't tolerate anything being out of English control, and that is more valuable to them than economic prosperity.

So, again, that's your view - embrace it.

don't bother there are pages after pages on this thread, why people voted and clearly spelled out why they were voting.
Easy to just say one lot are this one lot are that, the argument when it mattered was won by the stay side , the stupid ,misinformed racist, little Englanders won, says a lot about the losers when they couldn't beat that lot

I will openly own up to that, even if others don't UK first and foremost in my thoughts, not that I want any other nation to suffer because of it. being pro UK doesn't automatically make you anti everything else

If thats the case I agree with you as SNP N = national are they a racist party they want by their leaders standards to ditch us!
They bang the drum over the EU trade wise they do 8 billion of trade with the EU , and with us over 20 billion -get logic that by them ????? never mind the fact we bail them out too on the old Barnett formula, and Sturgeon parliament will have a budget deficit of 9 billion this term - my daughter is up there since Sturgeon has gained power the place has become toxic v the English - I told her to come home, but she loves Edinburgh, and has a Scottish boyfriend!

All I've seen is the EU putting one line in their negotiation paper about us having to discuss the solution for what happens there with Spain, and then some rabid old Tory idiot talking about sending a task force down there like we did with the Argies.

No one has mentioned Sovereignty of the rock, not the EU, not Spain. Is just another example of the ridiculous jingoism that's appearing and being driven by the Tories imo.

I don't believe for one minute that it is to do with Sovereignty. What it means though is that if a deal is done and agreed, Spain can then veto the deal ONLY for Gibraltar. It would be like agreeing the deal then the U.K. puts a veto on it applying to Luxembourg. It's stupid and discriminatory. Nothing to do with jingoism, it's trying to split the UK elements and is unacceptable. If Spain can veto Gibraltar we might as well save two years of negotiations and just walk away now.......If you are unable to see this is an issue then there's not much to say really...

How is it any different to France vetoing the deal over farming or the Poles over migration, or indeed the Spanish vetoing the deal over healthcare for British expats?

Indeed, you could probably say that for any complex negotiation ever conducted. There are always relatively small groups that have a disproportionate say (see Wallonia and the Canadian trade deal).

The answer surely isn't to throw a strop or threaten military action, but to continue negotiating until people are happy?

It's pure folly to suggest that any deal regarding the practicalities of what happens with border controls / visas etc on Gibraltar shouldn't have Spanish acceptance. They have the ability to reject any deal as part of the 27 anyway, as the final deal will need universal sign off.

It raises similar issues as with the NI / IRE border, which was covered by May in her letter to Tusk, but she omitted to even mention Gibraltar which has over 5,000 Spanish commuting to work on it every day. The EU have highlighted the omission by specifically mentioning it, but the words alter nothing in terms of Spains right of veto, as they had one anyway. If you are unable to comprehend this simple fact and instead want to ride on the wave of Tory rhetoric on the subject, then you're right there's not much more to say.
