Do you have any basic understanding of ratios?
Congrats mate, you win the unnecessary unpleasant comment award. I'd of happily debated the subject with you if you hadn't of been such a knob about it. As it is I'd rather leave it. This thread has lasted as long as it had because people have chose not to engage in petty insults. I'd rather not start it now so I'm out.

Sad to see some of the abuse that has been hurled at a decent man.
That decent man could not get the 27 EU Members to give then the PM DC anything solid to win the Remain vote - if he was that good he would have - I have never heard such a farce in my life its his well paid job - he should have been fired after the vote of Brexit incompetence of the highest level ex banker sits in a room with the other 27 ambassadors, they sit and chat then the leader read what they have waffled on for hours no wonder the deal may take ten years at that rate -
As farage stated who are you? he looked to have the charisma of a damp squib good riddance!
Lets get a strong brexit ambassador on a short contract in there - this is exactly the bureaucracy I voted out for, it does not need to take this long if they dont like us leaving tough - lets bond with the USA and the rest of the world as the EU itself is going down the plughole!

Lesson in ratios.

The human species has been on the earth for 220,000 years give or take. That's a huge number if you consider that the average human being only sees around 0.004/.005% of that.

But in comparison to the estimated age of the Universe as a whole (13.7 billion), it's absolutely minuscule (< 0.00%).

So, with that in mind - 3.whatever% difference is still not enough to state that it was a finite vote on the matter.

What was the deal David Cameron secured?

52-48 how is that 1% any way if you get beat 1-0 you lose those were the rules sore loser hey!

This isn't a football game you idiot, it's a serious issue with serious unrecoverable repercussions if (or when) it badly blows back up in our face.

I love my country, and I only want the best for it and its inhabitants. I feel that the public has been badly mislead and I'm going to call lies and misrepresentation when I see it.

please do not call me an idiot - you lost just accept it ok!

You're just furthering my belief in your idiocy with that response.

Could you imagine if democracy worked like that? "You lost, accept it and shut up."

My 'arl man once told me that the majority of British people would probably love to live in some sort of authoritarian dystopia provided that it fell in line with their views - I never believed him until this.

May as well been a blank piece of paper of vague promises that after the referendum it would have to go back to the EU for them to ratify ift if the remain vote won - Chamblin esquique one questioner on a debate called him it was about a % of EU citizens benefits child benefits being sent home I vaguely remember all immaterial as remain lost , but this is all this so called ambassador could get him, and himself also a maybe break on immigration from the EU immigration for a short period , all meaningless the public did not swallow the guff, and OUT won .
It was very little with a lot of is and buts i.e. a blank piece of paper for what it was worth - too cocky DC thinking the UK public would vote on ifs and buts! then to go back after the vote for ratification by that bureaucratic nightmare!

I warn you again the word indicating I am an idiot is in there stop using it, after a GE no one queries the vote so why are you ?
I never told you to shut up, but you did lose and when article 50 is signed that will be it ok!
By the way pass the message to your ole man too!

I'm sorry Joe, but if you're holding this man to account you've got to produce a more coherent critique than that. It was a fairly simple question.

Let's use the same logic that you're employing here.

Let's take the percentage of all 'home nations' as the independent variable here, and see where that leaves us.
  • 46.6% of the population of England voted to remain.
  • 55.8% of the population of Northern Ireland voted to remain.
  • 62.0% of the population of Scotland voted to remain.
  • 47.5% of the population of Wales voted to remain.
In no instance there does that indicate that the "vast majority" of "home country" votes voted for us to leave.

I do apologise, the value is closer to 3.6/.8% on closer inspection - but that's still not a clear majority.
The only person using the term "vast majority" is you. Everyone knows it was a narrow victory, but a victory it was, by the voting system in place in this country.

It's true that a great minority of the entire population voted to Leave. But that's by the by.

Haha, oh my god - you're either trolling or an idiot. I believe it to be the latter.

What's the point of a opposition then, you complete and utter meff?

Good grief.

My original argument is that the media perception of the vote was that the vote was overwhelmingly for us to leave.
