This really is one of the big issues. The elite and wealthy in the cities were more than happy to bring in the cheap labour. Ditto the really big food producers and delivery firms. A lot of us, me included, have never been affected by immigration, and may only see it as a benefit. But for those who have been directly affected, having lost jobs, omitted from jobs, had the culture of where they live irreparably changed, it's a massive issue which the wealthy seem to ignore........,

Yep. Agree. Like you, not really affected, (ironically, I am a delivery driver though!) but the debate on here has been far more informed than the one that preceded the vote. That is my concern.

I posted a day or so after the vote, along the lines of "Are you sure" as a second vote, as the reality began to filter through.

What did Labour do for the above during their 13 years of power....,

Seeing as you asked:

Improved access to health care, improved health promotion, improved clinical effectiveness, patient experience, efficiency and accountability. Death rate fell by 17%. Infant mortality halved.

Waiting list times down, demand for private health care down, public satisfaction levels above 70 %.

Reversed the deterioration of NHS premises, built 103 new hospitals,

Over 100% increase in nursing staff , near 50% increase in GPS.

The list of improvements is almost endless.

Laudable that all that is, if statistically difficult to prove/disprove, Mr Blair will only be remembered for one thing.....

But anyrate, people keep buying crap from the internet, then I get paid. If the EU makes that easier, then sound.

I am bound by Section 2 of the Official Secrets Act 1911, subsequently superseded by the 1989 Act. Once signed, that binds an individual until their dying breath. There have been many cases of prosecution against individuals under the Act. Sarah Tisdall and Clive Ponting are two of the more well-known ones.

You are not the only one mate.

Well that is a hypothetical opinion Pete. Which might turn out to be true.

You are/were a businessman. As was I. Sort of. Whatever someones political aspirations re building hospitals, 3rd runways, or free everything for everyone, a growing, vibrant economy is the only way that can be done. Long term.

That was the main reason why I (reluctantly) voted to stay. I hate the EU machine, but I like the single market more.

Cuba has managed the hospitals (and education system) very successfully with an otherwise very dodgy economy (though one that probably wasn't helped by having sanctions).

Of course it is a very different sort of society and less advanced in consumer goods and much technology but would you like the pros more than you would miss those things? I think I would...

I remember old hospitals with leaking roofs, patient waiting times over 18 months, enormous increase in private health insurance all of which was reversed by 3 Labour Governments.

You might think it is 'crap' millions who benefited from it would disagree.
The only thing Blair did build new hospitals on PFIcontracts with huge interest rates, which are still to be paid off, also Labour also introduced privatisation with cleaners etc
The Tories did there top down reorganisation another mess the NHS is a Polictical football by both parties it's now at breaking point - no matter how dedicated the staff are they are up against it the head is the guy who proceeded over mid staffs debacle I think?
