Perhaps you should read what I said more carefully. I am saying one of the reasons for such conditions in the NHS is the absence of suitable social care. Social care can be preventative thus reducing costs further down the track. So for example if we had better social care provision mental health patients may find it easier to cope, be less likely to require expensive medication, have substance abuse problems and further physical deterioration caused by depression etc.

Better tax collection, a robust corporation tax structure, prioritising health and social care more in government budgets, stopping vanity projects like HS2 and remaining in the Single Market could all go to stopping the type of situation Joey's family and thousands of others are now facing.

All good points Mate, but why oh why were they not initiated decades ago. BTW I feel very much for Joey, let me tell you something. I spent nearly 10 years continuous in a hospital when I was a very young child and still have the consequences so I do not need other misfortunes brought to my attention.

Tory, Labour and Coalition governments have all played a part in gradually erasing the agencies of social improvement through a mixture of ideology, foolishness and reflection of the majority desire for personal / family enrichment over social concerns.

Recipe for improvement? First, change human nature ....

Hope for good news for you and your family Joey.

Drunks and druggies are symbols of the social decay we have around us. We are the 6th largest economy in the world yet many live in conditions that cause substance abuse and create untreated mental health problems which then access the only available form of care A&E.

Until we address the state of social care in this country the NHS and its patients will carry the burden.

Better resources and provisions in social care would remove some of the burdens on the health service, but as I said recently it's shamefully not a priority for this Government. They'd rather waste their time and resources on a totally unnecessary political stunt called Brexit.

This might be getting into conspiracy theories a bit but sticking lots of cheap offies and betting shops in poorer areas is I believe a way of keeping the poor zonked out and not noticing what is going on. What Malcolm X and to some degree the Nation of Islam were doing in the US was to say to black people: "wake up, notice what's going on, take pride in yourself, dress well to take yourself out of this poor black man thing". Here I dont believe the people in power care about whether people are black or white but they don't want poorer people rising up, hence the vast number of betting shops in poorer areas as well as cheap alcohol (the Tories often cut alcohol duty in budgets though I am not saying they are the only ones responsible).

As I get older I welcome a more social society, less founded on greed and constant urge to accumulate.

I agree with you that people are not ready for anything different but give it 20-30 years of the present financial and economic system and I reckon they may be.

The writing looks like it is on the wall already for globalist economic systems

What did Labour do for the above during their 13 years of power....,

They'll melt if @Old Blue 2 swears at them long enough

HE IS VERY ANGRY

But perhaps with good reason. I get the impression that he has seen the reasons for various goverent decisions yet is unable to speak fully about them in public. It may not be the case, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were so......

You can read it all on here tbh. The only argument that the remainers have put up is an economic case... This for me shows the paucity of their ambition........

... its easier to deal with figures and balance sheets than it is to think about and get a grasp more nebulous ideas.
