To be fair Joe there is a lot of migration in Richmond, but it tends to be wealthy bankers! I don't think it's a massive coup for Remain, but the Conservative Party look in a mess currently and I think the Lib Dems will challenge them in most of their wealthier southern Seats.

Outside of their, relatively few, London fringe seats, virtually all their southern / eastern seats were Leave.

Italy's PM, Matteo Renzi, has just confirmed that he will resign if the Italian people vote against his proposed constitutional changes in the big referendum on Sunday.

If he were to resign, would there be an election? And if so, would the anti-EU socialists who call themselves Movimento 5 Stelle have a chance of getting into power?

Frightening times.
s5 star have said they want a referendum on staying in the euro zone if the vote goes no, last week one of there leaders said they will want a vote on staying in piont blank.
They currently have about 30% of the votes which is high by Italian standards as there a loads of different parties, can they win?
Yes more than likely with the help of some of the other parties few are very anti EU, northern league ect

No currently about 8% ahead in the polls.

Possibly yes ?

It's been A lb dem seat for an age till 2010!
The Lib Dems will also challenge Labour as they have no policy on Brexit either!

Big week next week, italy,Austria , and most of the forecasts are out for 2017 how much they expect us to grow or not.
The EU unemployment figures are out as well, its only dropped below 10% once thus year so no real shocks expect, just could pile a bit more pressure on them if its more of the same.

Talk about delusion and plucking numbers out of the air........

Speaking alongside Olney in the south-west London constituency on Friday morning, Farron was cautiously optimistic about the Lib Dems’ chances in a general election but said: “This result might change the direction of British politics. It’s about momentum.”

The party leader added: “If I tell you that nearly a third of Tory voters from the last election who voted leave in June voted Liberal Democrat yesterday, you will see that this is not just about a remain versus leave rerun, it’s about people trying to say to Theresa May: we do not like the extreme version of Brexit outside the single market you are taking us down.”

That's a fair point in many ways mate. How do you see generally wealthier areas of the South who backed Remain voting in the next election? Can you see voters moving from Tories back to Lib Dems?

If Brexit is their number one issue and they are passionately in favour of Remain, I think its is possible that the LibDems may gain a few of these voters as they seem the only party generally holding out against Brexit. Overall though I cant see Tory voters moving to them - I think they will continue to vote Tory.

The Richmond by election was probably not typical in that it was a by election and the libs often do well in by elections (they are brilliant one off and local campaigners).

Also Richmond is not a typical posh area in that although still mostly Tory and with eyewateringly high house prices it isn't as stuck up as most such areas and has had a libdem mp in the recent past.

It's a lovely area by the way with trees parks and the river. I would love to live there

I think the next election is going to be crazy in who takes votes from who. Peoples normal party allegiances have been complicated by whether they favour Brexit or remain.

The lib Dems could gain from pro-remain labour voters. Alternatively labour could do well and squeeze the lib Dem vote. Tory and Labour votes could go to UKIP (particularly if Brexit is being frustrated). Alternatively if Brexit is happening UKIP could be squeezed and votes go to Tories or Labour. Labour voters could go to the Tories if they don't sharpen up, but if they do they may gain a few Tory votes.

Post Truth is apparently word of the year but I think we are in a phase of post politics where all the normal allegiances are up for grabs (or at least it seems like that) and as a passionately pro-Brexit Corbyn supporter I have no idea who I will vote for if Labour don't support Brexit fully.

Havnt a clue myself normally labour, but dont feel they have anything in common with me at the moment just as alien to me as the tories .
Would voting for one of the little parties if it was tomorrow just to use my vote.

By the wayyou still have not answered my benifits question of on cost for immigration

I'll answer it again then Joey. 2.2% of working age EU immigrants receive benefits even though they account for 5% of the population. Therefore the average immigrant is nearly 60% less likely to claim benefits than a UK citizen. Hope that puts to bed the claim that immigrants are a cost to the nation.

Is that inclusive of all benefits?not just unemployment benefits?
I am not anti immigration as we have a big skill shortage!

That includes all benefits available to someone of a working age.

It's not a fully costed model though. A full cost model includes current infrastructure, NHS, government services including defence, local government services etc etc, interest payment upon current loans and national debts etc. I reckon that when someone does the big sums, because they haven't really done them to date, then the financial case doesn't really stand up. Short term input fine, long term costings kicked into the long grass.....
