Like I mentioned in an earlier post, if it's gone down relatively intact but they've been incapacitated (on conscious etc.), then a plane of that type will soon go down.

The engine at the front will quickly stand it up and it'd end up going down by the head. If I am honest, it will probably be at the bottom of the Channel by now.

If it's broken up, then parts will have gone to the bottom and other parts would easily be miles - potentially hundreds - from any site that it crashed in heavy storms.

Trying to find the debris in a choppy channel won't be easy either because of the swell. Maybe I'm a realist (comes with the job) but it's no longer a rescue!

A small airplane like that is balanced near the wing. If it makes a water landing and doesn’t break up or cartwheel it has a good chance of giving occupants, if conscious, time to exit. Not convinced about finding and inflating the life raft, however.

....apparently it was pitch black and relatively rough seas, a ‘water landing’ is very unlikely according to the reports I listened to. Sadly, it’s gone down into the Channel and locals suggested the currents are so strong it could be 20 miles away in a short space of time.

I think there has to be a chance that nothing will ever be recovered.

Yes, knowing which way the swells were moving in the dark seems impossible. Not to mention the most important issue—why they were flying low/going down to begin with. It’s entirely possible they lost radar contact but kept flying low above the water for some time. Very troubling circumstances/decision making by the PIC.

...not sure what a PIC is, but I think it’s very wrong to apportion any blame. We might never know the circumstances. Apparently previous accidents have involved that type of plane icing up. The final moments must have been awful for the two men involved. Very sad.

Pilot In Command is responsible for every aspect of flight and bears all responsibility. That’s the job. No idea what happened of course, but without declaring an emergency default presumption is this was due to pilot choice.

We've got no idea what happened and likely never will. Assuming the pilot is experienced, if he was able to put an emergency call out he would have. Suggests he couldn't.

For comparison, Sala was liked the same way we liked Cahill

We know a lot, actually. Will write later if I get a chance. And don’t want to belabor small points because safety/recovery is greater priority, but this is out of our control.

....I understand he wasn’t a full-time pilot, he had another occupation. It’s just very sad contemplating what the two men went through in those final moments.

*perceived final moments.

Stranger things have happened; bet no one thought they’d ever see that Uruguayan rugby team again.
How could he actually be alive now? Id love it to be true but like how could he be?

3 days in or so? Surely theres no chance?

(Hope im wrong)
