Just been announced they have called off the search, awful, said they have cover over 1000 square miles without a trace and have decided to call it off now, thats awful news.

Yep, but the hows and whys will go unanswered. That's probably the most painful thing for the families involved. Kin planes. Still love flying and no number of random or crazy accidents will ever stop me getting on one.
There was a program on C5 here called Lockerbie 'the unheard voices'.
Really good watch if you haven't seen it.

Unfortunately inevitable.

Given the size of the plane involved, and the state of the sea/weather, I can't imagine they'll ever be found.

Just hope that the families get some closure, even if it's a part of the plane washing up etc. It must be horrible.

I know it's a bit of a conspiracy theory and perhaps in bad taste, but I did wonder whether there is something more to the story. It's odd that he turned down Cardiff's offer to provide transport. Also weird that he phoned his family and friends to say he was worried about the plane falling apart and that if they don't hear from him again they should fear the worst. He sounded very calm on the recording for someone scared that their plane was falling apart and the pilot didn't send a distress signal other than asking to land in jersey.
I think the WhatsApp message was tongue in cheek, I don't think he meant it to be prophetic

Minute's silence for the next round of EPL games no doubt. Very sad story all in all. And so easily avoidable. That news coming out about the pilot not being comfortable with the plane and feeling "rusty" with the controls etc just makes even worse.

The mother of the young American student who screamed, "my baby" when she found out the news will haunt me. Awful event.

Distressing news about the two gentleman who are missing, very sad all round.

Awful stuff, it really is

If he'd just flown to London on a normal plane and then gotten a train this possibly could have been avoided

Just so upsetting

It's crazy the amount of things that could have led to it not happening
1. Cardiff not bidding
2. Cardiff bidding the sale price earlier so the deal being completed earlier
3, Nantes chairman not playing hardball
4. Sala replacement not getting sent off against Nimes so holding the deal up slightly (Nantes wanted Sala to play against Angers cos the replacement was suspended - it didn't happen)
5. The Nimes player not playacting to get Sala replacement the second yellow card in the first place

.... I could go on. I guess it's the same with every tragedy

Fans are being invited to Nantes training ground to pay respects.

Why the hell are people - Everton fans, at that (we really do breed some idiots) - taking to Twitter saying 'why call off the search for Sala but they didn't ever call off the search for Maddie'.

Beggars belief.
