I think it's important we break into that Ghanaian market. There's a few quid to be made there.

Says about trying to raise our profile further in America through the MLS all stars game

Says popularity in America is rising but is not naive enough to think it's substantial, wants to continue working on the AMerican market.

Says the new online retail will help

Says it will take a long term project of establishing ourselves in America

We are making profits on the Everton way whilst also being allowed access to exciting prospects through the project

Should be easier to get work permits for American players than Ghanaian players.

TRANSFER MARKET!

Theres an awful lot of work going on, we are talking to a number of players, a number of clubs and chairmen, we're in constant dialogue with the manager and when I need to get involved I'm getting involved and having conversations about players but, you know, we absolutely recognize the need to strengthen, we are fiercely ambitious as everyone would expect us to be and everyone understands that we are, and if you're fiercely ambitious it's going one step further than 5th and going one step further than an FA Cup final. To do that we know we have to bring talent in and we're not sitting on our hands in any way shape or form and are determined to strengthen the squad and we're determined to take the field in 2009/10 with a better squad than we did in 08/09, and that's absolutely very much the core strategy of the football club.

Says Ronaldos transfer will raise prices across Europe, says that players like Glen Johnson being touted at £17m are proof of that

Says that the two models prospering in the current market are those squeezing every last penny out of their facilities and those with a billionaire backer

Says Everton are keeping pace but it's getting harder when our facilities are generating a 3rd of what the emirates makes and half what some others generate

Thinks one of the core strengths of Everton over the past 5 years has been stability and continuity and we are benefitting from having Moyes in charge for a long period of time and KEEPING OUR NUCLEUS OF PLAYERS TOGETHER FOR THE LONG TERM!!!

He feels that is something that some teams are envious of.

Tying up our best players to new contracts is/was essential, doesn't have the glitz and glamour of a new signing but is equally important

Developing our own talent means that we are able to compete at lower prices essentially without transfer fees and, on the short term at least, with more attractive wages so it is really important to us

Ray Hall has a record of getting at least one academy boy into the first team every season and is looking to repeat that this season, but it will get harder as our playing standards go up

Also, Jagielka is looking to be back by late October/Early November. He thinks we'll bring in 2-3 quality players

Well in mate, that must have taken you ages!

Your a gent!

Mega rep!

:D only took 5/10 minutes extra, the main bit that took a while was the transfer market bit because I wanted to get it all down so I was pausing every few seconds, but the rest was just every minute or so

Thanks for the rep (y)

Hopefully we get our deals done early, and from the signs, we will.

It gives a more balance to the team and more settled look.

Remember 06/07 when we brought in AJ, Lescott and Howard before pre season? Had a great start and a great season.

Ill say it then: You cant legally talk to players unless A) you agree a fee with a manager or a chairman or (B) a player is out of contract.

Step forward either:

Owen
Pennant
Bates

Says it's important to have a presence in the city centre, shows our status, visibility in the city is very important

Oh [Poor language removed] off!! When did this revelation happen!?! Apparently this line of thinking only applies to a store, though. Sorry, but this is utter BS after all the verbal diarrhea about the Tescodome and he should be called out on it immediately.

What a double-talking cnut...

Maybe I'm being stupid...but will Ronaldo's transfer really actually raise transfer fees across the board?

Because from what I'm seeing is...clubs (Real, United, Citeh etc) who can freely throw around money trying to buy players clubs already have tied to long contracts and dont really want to release (Glen Johnson signed a 3 year extension this season, Ribery a key Munich player already has 3 years on his contract etc).

Those players for eg are key players for their club, so the clubs will want full whack for them. If your United's etc want to pay them, then let them.

But I'm sure the "normal" clubs will just deal as normal as they are, maybe paying a little extra IMO.

Just because the Tescodome is outside the city centre doesnt mean Everton arent a Liverpool club mate.

What I'm getting at is how can a store trump a stadium in reference to visiblity and status, two of some of the most important things to a football club...with another being location (ie. city centre).

I'm trusting Screech that what I quoted is what he said and if indeed that's the case then the previous remark about him being better than Wyness holds less water. Don't get me wrong, so far he has started off better but if he thinks I'm going to grade him on a curve and let him make comments like that with a straight face he's sorely mistaken.

Well when he said that he wasn't talking about the stadium, he was discussing Everton 1 and 2, and the Kitbag deal

I understand that Screech...

Again, what's set me off is that everything he's "upping" about the store applies tenfold to the ground issue and Kirkby has none of them mate. I have no desire to get into a stadium fisticuff here, I couldn't be more honest in that...I had my share of them in other places and there's another thread for that. Obviously these few replies from me show where I stand on it all anyhow.

Anyhow, I do appreciate the transcription from the interview...being 5,000 miles away, you don't hear the little things like this.
