Was he? Fair dos.
He did help make PayPal what it was (wasn't a founder, but was high up after a merger) and invested that money into Tesla and other things.

As @Billy Dean rightly mentioned, he's involved in SpaceX and The Boring Company, so he's definitely successful. But I like @Rita_Poon's casino analogy a lot.

Why is Tesla valued more than the likes of Toyota, VW and whatnot? Yes, they're well known for their batteries beyond the cars, but it still feels really odd.

I won't give too much away into the series, but they were selling the cars without people even trying them and knowing they'd take months (or more) to deliver.

I get the feeling of 'selling snake oil' or magic beans. As a person, would you trust him near your children? I wouldn't!

Hadn't taken much notice of him until the last couple of weeks. Saw that documentary about him and now his twitter antics. The bloke is a poor language removed douche. The world would be a better place without people like him.

Figures. He just wanted an outlet where he can say whatever he wants without accountability. It would seem to follow that he will extend the same courtesy to others, including Putin's drones.

The interesting question is whether it will destroy the platform in the end.
We shall see

Watched all three. Conflicted really. Seems emotionally distant except for temper. Undoubtedly odd, rather likes winning, got the idea hes that punter who went to the roulette table and won and bet the winnings multiple times consecutively. Thats probably unfair, but I've no idea where his startup cash came from and how he became so omnipresent in the tech sector. Odd.
Rich family got richer with blood diamonds etc smuggling during apartheid.

In terms of your latter point Twitter has already been struggling with monetising itself, the advertising is already not really doing it, so clearly there are going to be big changes that need to be made to the platform if they want to pursue being profitable. I do believe a lot of people are put off from using Twitter because of the way it is now, so just getting more people on there would be a start.
And that there is the big issue.
A lot of Musk’s supporters seem to think that freedom of speech is their freedom to scream out the most toxic racism, sexism, transphobia etc. unchallenged, as seen by the ‘N-Word’ started trending soon after his “The bird is free” tweet.

Advertisers are twitchy enough as it is already, just saying certain words regardless of context can have entire videos demonitised on YouTube, so I imagine they’ll run a million miles away of Elons free speech haven regardless of user numbers.
