Transfer Rumour Eliaquim Mangala

I think Mangala cost 42m when City bought him, could they be so terribly wrong about a player , even if the price was somewhat inflated because it was City that were buying ?

Mangala and Otamendi played together at Porto.

City bought Mangala, while Otamendi was sold to Valencia CF for €12 million. He was immediately loaned to Clube Atlético Mineiro in Brazil. Back in Spain, Otamendi headed Valencia's winner in a 2–1 home win over Real Madrid, ending their opponents' club record 22-match winning streak. He was named in the La Liga Team of the Year.

City realised that Otamendi was the more reliable of the two, and Valencia let him go for £28.5 million.

Yes.

I’m not saying he’s rubbish, but players bought for relatively similar amounts by “big” clubs include Veron, Soldado, Rebrov, Falcao etc. who were all useless at least in the Premier League.

A surely similar City scouting team thought it’d be a good idea to spend £20m on Jo.

Eliaquim Mangala may have cost Manchester City a staggering £42 MILLION, according to a leaked transfer document, writes Rob Pollard of the Manchester Evening News. Website Football Leaks claim to have got hold of a copy of the transfer contract that took the defender to City in 2014. It shows that the club paid a lot more than the £32 million they originally claimed they had shelled out for him.

According to the document, which appeared online on Wednesday, selling club Porto only owned 56.67 per cent of Mangala's economic rights. The remainder was split between The Doyen Sports Investment Limited, who owned 33.33 per cent, with another 10 per cent belonging to an Austrian marketing company. City had to pay close to £24m for Portuguese giants Porto's share alone, meaning the remainder of the deal took the total to £41.4m.

I cannot believe City paid 42 million for this guy (32 million fee and another 10 million to his agent Jorge Mendes for part owning him),

He's been a liability for City since day one.

I'm baffled why he is here,he's simply awful.

Keane has been truly awful no aggression slow & so easy to dribble past. 100% the most disappointing signing as it seemed risk free.
Holgate is miles better
I respect your opinion mate but disagree.
Holgate has done absolutely nothing to warrant the above.
He's not even been able to cement a place in a squad including Ashley Williams. He's not played a full season in a set position.
Keane is having a wobble but for Burnley he was outstanding thus proving he can do it.

I hope so regarding Keane. As with any new signing you certainly wouldn't want them to fail, but I had my doubts when he signed based purely on the feeling that he was built up as another Utd reject who was turning into a world beater.
I hope the wobble you talk of ends soon or much as I want him to succeed, I could be proven correct on my doubts.

He's here because there was no one else would touch us.
