Some of the even less philistine members of RAWK will still see this London connection as a positive....they only see one dimension to anything and no layers (a good example being the Suarez/racism saga). That's one of the differences between us and - we see in 3D and are, if not always suspicious, at least always questioning. They hate London/cockneys etc etc yet say "well we should have a place in the capital shouldn't we...that's where business is done" without wondering what FSG are up to and why theyre really doing it. It wouldn't dawn on them even, them living in a virtual type of reality.
They hate dem yanks and burn their flag - but take FSG cash
They hate dat Murdoch - but still pay for Sky
They oppose doze standing areas in grounds - but they stand everywhere they go
They're 'Against dat der Modern Football' - but demand their club spend more than any other
...

Couldn't it just be that the one trick pony is the grotesque mongrel child of Shaun Wright-Phillips and Aaron Lennon and thus not very good?

Nah, that couldn't be it. He's "world class" or something. Bloody Woy...

He's a useful player

He might not be World Class, but he's still a good player

Players can be just that. There's no appreciation of the middle ground anymore

A player has to be either World Class or he's crap

What's wrong with just being a pacey winger with a good shot? Those are two very useful skills to have. Just have other guys in the team who can do what he can't and play him to his strengths

Simples

I mean, Brian Clough won two European Cups by assembling a team of youngsters and journeymen. He maximised their positives and hid their negatives. That's what football management is all about

Raheem Sterling doesn't need to be World Class, he just needs to be played in the right formation and he can be useful to a side

He's still very young and has plenty of time to pick up the extra bits he needs

Will he ever be World Class? It's probably too early to tell. Probably not, but he's certainly going to have a decent top level career if he isn't run into the ground at a young age like other players in his situation have been

Don't disagree with you. Perhaps the point is that he's been made out, by the neighbours, to be a unique mix of Jesus, Pele and Champion the Wonder Horse, thus inviting comment.
