I don't understand how anybody, ever, could point the finger at the selling club for a deal collapsing. You could maybe argue in some cases that such and such a bid should have been accepted; hypothetical e.g 'we should have bit Forest's hand off for that £23 million offer for Beto. Madness to knock that back.' But I'm not sure there's a universe where a club accept a bid, don't move the goalposts on price, yet are somehow to blame for a deal not going through.
If people think we held out for too much, then I think they're stuck in 2009. You pay 10-20 million for a good Championship player, with no PL experience these days, and it's often clubs in the Championship paying that sort of money.
