£48 million for a striker at a team looking to break worst ever Premier League side record. Huge gamble on Johnson who looks massively overpriced, and well, about £15 million too much on McNeil.

He's done well prior to this season but it's absolutely the right time to sell and the right fee for us.

Oh 100%, I’d have happily sold him for £20m at any point since he arrived to be honest. I wont be sorry to see him go, just saying I think some of the pantomime villain reaction is a bit over the top.

Anyone annoyed that we've sold Mcneil for "only" £20 million just needs to see this reminder from the Leeds game. All well and good saying "remember how he helped us in the relegation fight". That was the last. This season he's been an embarrassment in nearly all the games he's played.

A year ago I wouldn’t be happy. Think people have short memories and are being overly harsh here. He had goals and assists and did well for us. BUT, that knee injury has seemed to have taken everything out of him. He simply hasn’t come back the same player so it’s good business from us to now shift him on.

IF he passes the medical and nothing flags up with his knee….

He did and some never liked him as he had his limitations. His time here always had a shelf life though, the club brought in a lot of options for a lot of money in the past 7 months. That and his play made him expendable, regardless of the reason.

I will say that interest in him from other clubs seems to surprise some, perhaps the consensus here isn’t shared by some decision makers in the PL.
