A year ago I wouldn’t be happy. Think people have short memories and are being overly harsh here. He had goals and assists and did well for us. BUT, that knee injury has seemed to have taken everything out of him. He simply hasn’t come back the same player so it’s good business from us to now shift him on.

I'm bouncing off the walls in excitement over a potential £20 million for a player Everton signed for circa £16-£18 million when the club was absolutely desperate.

But let's have it right, he did a great job in challenging conditions and in reality, he was one of the main sources of creativity at the club for several years and he scored some very important goals.
