2024/25 Dwight McNeil

….he was awful when tried there last season, the opposition literally walked through him. I like wide players reverting but McNeil is 100% not a full back.

Yeah wide players dropping back to fullback can work really well as generally they are better crossers plus as a rule they are faster than the typical fullback with more natural instinct to get forwards.

Problem is McNeil is so slow hed just be a very slow out of position winger at left back

I've said before, the likes of Mykolenko, McNeil and Tarkowski should be squad level players if we have any ambition to be an upper half team looking to get into Europe.

Long as those three are starters mid table is the best we can really hope for.

The bench tells you a lot about a team, Myko, McNeil and Tarkowski instead of Young, Harrison and Keane for example would mean the starters are a level above current.

We’re currently a long way from a top 8 side and it’s been years since we’ve even sat in the top half , for where we are just now he’s a useful squad member and statistically one of our more dangerous threats .

As time passes and we hopefully see improvement in us and our squad then he may be out of place but at the moment I’ll be glad when he’s back in the squad and fit .
Suspect it'll be a while as I can only see evolution not revolution. Partly because of Moyes' approach and Partly because of necessity around finances.

Typical of evertonians he gets better every week he doesn't play.

Wouldn't get in the squad never mind on the pitch for any top 8 side.

A squad player for a mid table side, a starter for a relegation battle team.

That's his level as he's so fundamentally flawed - zero right foot, one of the slowest players in the league.

Occasionally scures a screamer, decent set piece delivery, outside of that he's bang average at everything else
Also typical of Evertonians to slag off one of our better players.

We miss his creativity and delivery. Hoping that Alcaraz is able to help in that regard. Interested to see what happens when he comes back though and how it would work with all three of them on the pitch.

Moyes will pick him once he's fit.

It's a tough league for players with no real physical attributes to truly excel in, but McNeil is both a good technician and a hard worker.

He may end up being used similarly to how Ward-Prowse was at West Ham.

Has his flaws, one footed, too slow for a winger, especially if you play direct like we've played recently under Moyes with more passing on the floor.

Decent passing, shooting, and goot set piece delivery, also quite effective.
