NEIL!?!?!?!

But the attributes that make him good are physical no football brain/IQ, no picture in his head, zero awareness. His finishing is gash and passing isn't much better. You probably have posters of Traore and Doucoure on your wall...

I prefer actual footballers like Zidane or Pirlo who don't rely on pace to actually have any relevance or influence during a game of football

And who are Pirlo and Zidane passing the ball to, to have such an influence on the game? Players with pace and movement?

I’d prefer the best midfielders of their generation over McNeil, agreed

Typical of evertonians he gets better every week he doesn't play.

Wouldn't get in the squad never mind on the pitch for any top 8 side.

A squad player for a mid table side, a starter for a relegation battle team.

That's his level as he's so fundamentally flawed - zero right foot, one of the slowest players in the league.

Occasionally scures a screamer, decent set piece delivery, outside of that he's bang average at everything else

But he does do ‘the hard yards and the dirty work.’ ™️
Joking aside, maybe Moyes can get another 5% - 10% out of him that might just elevate him from meh to ½ decent.

I've said before, the likes of Mykolenko, McNeil and Tarkowski should be squad level players if we have any ambition to be an upper half team looking to get into Europe.

Long as those three are starters mid table is the best we can really hope for.

The bench tells you a lot about a team, Myko, McNeil and Tarkowski instead of Young, Harrison and Keane for example would mean the starters are a level above current.

We’re currently a long way from a top 8 side and it’s been years since we’ve even sat in the top half , for where we are just now he’s a useful squad member and statistically one of our more dangerous threats .

As time passes and we hopefully see improvement in us and our squad then he may be out of place but at the moment I’ll be glad when he’s back in the squad and fit .

….he was awful when tried there last season, the opposition literally walked through him. I like wide players reverting but McNeil is 100% not a full back.
Fans usually have very little insight into how football is really played and what is demanded from a player during a game.

People come up with apparently sensible options which in reality are not options at all unless in absolutely dire need.
This is one of them.

I assume you haven't seen Gordon play then the last two years as you've just spouted utter nonsense.

I get the point and it makes sense but he regularly misplaces simple passes ahead of players and either over or underkicks them badly, halting the attack.

I know about those good through balls from the middle but from the wing he's often seemingly incapable of playing the ball ahead of the player for some reason.
