I always thought we'd use him as a 10 since we bought him, but not to be! He's very much in the Bily mould of player, got a good left foot but been used in the wrong position

Not sure he has been out as long in his entire career in the pl...just unlucky this season with injuries especially compare to last season.

He has played there this season, the issue with it is he gives the ball away nearly twice as much as anyone else, he wants too much time on the ball on top of his frustrating one footedness which sees him turning in circles when he doesn't need too. He is not a winger but I'm not sure he is a 10 either tbh.

We miss him. He’s still massively underrated by our fans centrally. 3 goals and 3 assists in an awful side in limited mins before the injuries.

Thing is, he is a winger mate, he's just a very slow one.

He doesn't have the quick thinking to be a good number ten.

Reason people keep thinking about what could be his best position etc is simply trying to find some place he can play where his major deficiencies don't matter as much.

So they look at number ten, as he's got a good shot and can pick a good pass and it's not as reliant on pace, but he also doesn't have good instinct and one touch passing and he's so one footed that he's easy to predict, any competent defender can channel and block him, saw it this season several times already and that's when he was still a surprise playing there.

What's his best position then, well, one that doesn't require pace, doesn't require great instinct and were you can be very one footed. Sadly I don't think that position exists.
He's just a very one footed, slow winger. With a pretty decent left foot and set piece delivery.

What he is though is completely unsuited to counter attacking football, he'd probs my looking good in a team dominating the ball playing very much in the opponents half with no defensive responsibility out wide....

Don’t see him getting a shot centrally barring injuries. If there is one position this squad does have depth at it is 10. Doucs, Alacarz, Ndiaye, Lindstrom…. all want to move there. Dwight is needed more on he left than he is needed centrally.

They are his stats when you compare him to midfielders. When you compare him to attacking midfielders and wingers it's not as pretty.

We still miss his creativity though, I agree, but I am wondering if that is mainly due to not having a lot of creativity aside from Ndiaye. It will be interesting to see how we fit him in when he returns.

I’m not a fan of how that’s worked out. It’s comparing him to people like Saka and Salah who play as wide forwards.
