Current Affairs Don't mention the War !

I'm not sure how you came about this thinking Bruce. Yes, that generation are very unassuming and generally reluctant to speak about the war full stop. But I watched a lot of the D day commemorations last week and I don't believe I recall any of the old timers even make reference to Brexit, never mind come out in support of remain in the way you are suggesting.

And if you listen to half of the posters from the Brexit thread, they are boasting that Remain would win a second referendum because a lot of the old people who voted to leave would have died in the 3 years since the last referendum.

Hmmm.

You said you watched the coverage and didn't recall seeing anyone mention it. I'm merely pointing out one that did. Maybe you prefer this chap?

And?.

I agree with every word he said.

But I've seen nothing so far to justify your comments that "they also tend to think it a crying shame that the peace they sacrificed so much for is being compromised by jokers wanting to divide Europe again" .

They generally have a more positive outlook towards the EU.

I'll post it again then

Or you have the work quoted in the two posts below

That's interesting. Based on a small sample but regularly over a period of nearly 50 years so it would have been good had they been able to show if there was any change in views over that period.

It shows that the age group 85+ are/were more pro EU than the next couple of generations that came after, but not as pro EU as the millennials and younger.

In a way it disproves the general belief that Leave supporters are dying off. Looking at the 2 charts I'd say that age group was pretty much split. The ones that came later anti EU and the younger generations very much pro EU.

I'll say again, since when did the views of one person represent a generation.

You can post it as many times as you like. I only need to listen to it once.

Maybe listen to it all the way through and you'll see several veterans speaking :) As I say in the words above the video, the other gentlemen begin about half way through.
