C'mon Dan, don't you feel a little silly linking stuff like this? "Moron President humiliates America" ??

Do you know how many countries there are? 195. When Trump won he got a call from all of them, that's what he's anecdoting, that he couldn't take them all and was a little flabbergasted at the sheer amount of calls during that very heady election night, but he took Japan's call because he wants to be close friends with them. That's good, isn't it?

Give the guy a break, sheesh.

No.

I posted about that very thing only a few posts above yours, linking the video too.

@dandydan has a point with this Trump derangement syndrome blocking reasonable discussion in this thread. Maybe we should have two separate Trump threads: one for discussion, and one for deranged hating.
Considering the ongoing damage he's doing to the reputation of the office, I'm surprised there isn't more deranged hating. Are you from/living in the states? just trying to gauge how much you have at stake here. Not having a go, I've just noticed a lot of the fans of this crazy populism are not from the US and are soaking up Trump for his entertainment value.

I'm with y'all when the criticism is justified, like on his statement to the Texas shooting. I'm not with yous when he's being unfairly criticised, as I feel that's counter-productive to understanding what's going on.

I live in Germany and we have a drone airbase the US uses to help murder thousands of unknown Arab peoples, the relatives of which then come to our country as refugees. So yes, I have an interest in your leader and what he gets up to.

"forget it, mate. It's Trumpytown."

Used to live in Freiburg, great country.
On Trump, I honestly believe that considering the long term damage, he's getting off surprisingly lightly. Yea, there's very ocasional undue criticism but the bigger picture is not good. There is a lot of people around here that are completely burnt out, not able to process what happened in NY last week or Texas yesterday. The markets are still thriving thanks to Trumps carrot and stick corporate tax tactic, and that might be enough to see him through this term.
From what I see here, a few are galvanized in support or opposition but most are numbed by the lack of leadership or representation. TBH I'm shocked at the lack of "deranged hatred"! In any other modern country, he'd be long gone.

Decent response, mate. I was in Freiburg in 2006, we watched the Deutschland-Polen game in a wine cellar, great times.

I don't agree with you that there's not enough deranged hatred, there's deffo too much of it and that's from both sides. It breeds more when the other side doesn't let up. Lord knows what the motives were of the Las Vegas or Texas shooters, but guns are here to stay it seems even with all those regular deaths, regardless of UK & Aussie showing otherwise. So the least everyone can do is try to dial down the hate.

I also think he'll last the term because of ok performance in the economy and jobs sectors, but that the Democrats, as long as they get their act together (meaning no Hillary), will get back in as the folk will be exhausted after 4 years of the Donald. It's about time there was another one-term Pres anyway.

What do you think that bill was exactly, Dan? It's very specific and Trump's change was supported by the American Civil Liberties Union. And are you aware that the Texas shooter was denied a gun permit, and furthermore that the Las Vegas shooter had no history of mental health issues? So neither shooter was affected by the change in this bill.

Your contributions, or rather unthinking pasting of random anti-Trump tweets, don't really tell anyone anything useful.

Being supported by the ACLU isn't necessarily an indication that it's the correct decision.

The ACLU didn’t oppose it because there is no evidence that the people affected by the bill would be more likely to commit gun crime.

You bringing up the ACLU is a great illustration about wrong trump is to try and deflect this from guns to mental health.

And your pseudo-intellectual, centrist posts are dead, dead useful on the other hand.

Not necessarily no, but there's a debate there. Points to be scored, sure, but a debate nonetheless. Honestly I feel it's very important, especially for Americans, to think about the issues independently without leaning on someone else's soundbite. Otherwise the next 3 years will be hard work for you guys, and by extension for the rest of us too.

Your first sentence supports Trump's decision to change the bill.

The second one supports what we all agree on: blaming mass terror attacks on mental health when the guy happens not to be a Muslim is wrong on several levels.

Agreed, basically.

Distorting the truth indeed

So basically you agree with the poster you were trying to argue against
