So much for the populism

Great input.

Black Lives Matter have quite a few ideas if you are open to considering themWhat if no action is taken, it then becomes gesture politics. What action is wanted, by when and to be undertaken by whom. Because of Trump, it got worldwide recognition, fine so everyone is now looking, but what happens next because people will soon get fed up with it and it will polarise opinion....
Maybe you will go and read up on Jim Crow laws, civil rights, Black Lives Matters, read up on the disproportionate number of black prisoners in US prisons, read about how private prisons provide free labor that is predominintaly black, how the legal slavery was replaced by legal mass incarceration, read about how black kids have far less opportunity than white kids no matter how smart they are, read up on how schools in southern states are beginning to segregate again, read about efforts to restrict the black vote by gerrymandering districts and imposing strict laws that alienate the poorest voters, read about the likes of Richard Spencer and how main stream politics is beginning to embrace white supremacy. What if no action is taken, it then becomes gesture politics. It's b/c they care more about the "social/cultural" issues than anything economic. It's clear given the current state of affairsThis has always bothered me about the Republicans/conservative supporters. This is a party clearly all about the 1% yet the majority of their supporters get shafted by them with every administration, congress and senate they are in control off.

Not normally a fan of Sharpe (or Bayliss for that matter) but this is bang on fair play to him, Sharpe that is...
Exactly. It's a sickness. Any change is viewed as taking some from them, or changing their values, etc, when the only thing that's actually a piece of pie getting doled out differently would be economic change. Social/cultural change is viewed as a zero sum game - i.e, you're taking something from me, when that's not the case at all.Yeah the more i have lived in this country and the more i have followed politics the more i see that about them. Get bent out of shape when someone suggests changing a tradition, an antiquated rule or law or even simply allowing certain folks a better live but perfectly ok with being shafted as long as the status quo is kept right?
Thought he was really articulate there & delivered his points very well and with obvious passion .

The horror of spending more on saving peoples lives than the ability to take them
