If you're going to snip & quote awful takes from people on Truth Social repeating Trump's tired talking points, then you'd be better off making it a bit clearer - it would be terrible if people mistook all that guff for your own opinions.

I didnt see you disagreeing with any supporting evidence.

Also, I dont use those social media channels like tiktok, insta or fb.

NYC looks on a downward spiral. Looking forward to you showing me...

Lower crime
Businesses moving in
Economic growth
Etc etc

As from the outside i dont see that happening...

Crime rates in New York City have been recorded since at least the 1800s.[1] The highest crime totals were recorded in the late 1980s and early 1990s as the crack epidemic surged,[2][3]and then declined continuously since the mid-1990s and throughout the 2000s.[4] As of 2023, New York City has significantly lower rates of gun violence than many other large cities.[5] Its 2022 homicide rate of 6.0 per 100,000 residents compares favorably to the rate in the United States as a whole (7.0 per 100,000) and to rates in much more violent cities such as St. Louis (64.4 per 100,000 residents) and New Orleans (53.3 per 100,000).[6]

Why would I need to show you anything? You just made baseless assertions based apparently on watching old movies and TV shows and thinking what they portrayed was better than what you read about now "from the outside". Demanding evidence for a rebuttal is a bit rich, and to be honest it would be a bit demeaning to even engage with you over something so ridiculous as "real estate TV shows".

But if you insist on something to chew on, here's one:

You said "There's no crime here" relating to the falsified Trump Org records. A state supreme court judge disagreed, and given that Trump's team forgot to ask for a jury, that makes it a legal fact. I don't need any further supporting evidence to rebut your uninformed legal opinion, and if you want to pursue the argument that Engoron is biased and conjured a crime up then that's one you'll have the burden of proof for (and that doesn't mean simply re-litigating Trump's legal defence here - saying the banks got paid back doesn't mean Trump didn't fraudulently manipulate business records/property values to get more favourable loan terms he'd have otherwise been ineligible for).

Saying "there's no victim" reminds me of the videos of those idiot Sovereign Citizens stopped on the roadside, claiming the police have no power to stop them for speeding/no insurance whatever because "a crime has to have a victim". There's no understanding that throwing away the regulations for your own personal gain can have a knock on affect on others, those cases crashing into others whilst uninsured, and in Trump's case passing unknown risks on to the lending banks which could affect their other customers. Saying "Well it didn't happen" after the fact doesn't mean we should just handwave this stuff away.

Which Michael Douglas movie is this?

@Zatara - Do some of your posts, please

1st: it was the democrats going after his money on charges where the supposed 'victims' (banks) saw no issue and were happy to continue doing business with him.

Theres no crime here but they decided on one.

2nd: a case jumped on by the democrats that typically is a slap on the wrist and at worst a fine, has now rendered NDAs useless in New York.

Theres barely a crime here and they made it into a massive case and then multiplied it 34 times over.

An argument can be made for the timing of both events leading up to the election being election interference. Also with most New Yorkers being anti Trump and the judge being extremely biased it was only going to end in one way.

Not long ago NYC was known for its luxury and the glamour and opulence of being in Manhattan. Movies like Wall Street and the real estate tv series only boosted the image of wealth.

These days its known for high crime, businesses fleeing, drug users on the streets...

...and now for being a puppet where the law has been weaponised against a political rival.

From success and fairness to...a failing corrupt city.

"If they can do it to him, what hope do the rest of us have"

If Biden wins...NYC will continue going down the drain.

If Trump wins I dont suppose he can or would want to help the city anymore after recent events.

How bad can things get now for NYC?

How long do you think it will take to recover? Will it ever go back to what it once was?
I have never encountered any one so detached from real life in my life!

I recently watched a hard hitting documentary about life in 1980s New York that contradicts Zatara’s claims. Was following the trials and tribulations of 2 African migrants from the country of Zamunda who both end up working in a Burger Joint in Queens.

Was sobering stuff.
Thats nothing, I watched a documentary about a bunch of American Italian people who robbed an airport, sold drugs and 1 of them even became AndyC and turned snitch.

So, you disagree with the IMAGE that NYC had which WAS driven along by certain movies and Tv Series. To suggest otherwise is bizarre. Showing wealth and opulance in NYC is hardly going to make it look like a dump lol

A republican followed the advice of tax lawyers & of course while its well known that buildings can be overvalued (globally) it is up to the actual assessors who may be appointed on both sides, to determine the value for the loan and what is acceptable -- on both sides.

I'm sure you know the above already but seem to say Trump was leaning over his desk fudging the numbers himself or yelling at tax lawyers to obey him lol

In both cases, the judges were well known democat supporters. How can that be 'fair' ?

But my question wasnt about these clearly biased situations.

It was, essentially when will NYC recover from the shocking business, crime and now legal disasters that the city is now known for?

Not Falling Down? The one where he snaps and goes on a crime spree? 😂

Re the highlighted part: My favourite part is that one of the company accountants from Trump's organization gave testimony that Trump gave her explicit instructions to request the audited financial statements from the auditors in Word format... The auditors usually send the AFS in a locked PDF format which cannot be edited.

I wonder wonder wonder why Trump would have asked for that?! 🤔

As an outsider, I feel that crime peaked in New York in 1997. I saw a documentary, somehow made in the 1980s, that detailed how the entire Manhatten Island had been converted into a single city-wide prison for the worst dregs of American society. Somehow none of this was captured on camera by another documentary team, who were recording the ongoing lives of six young people living in Manhatten at the time, I can't remember the name of the documentary but I think they were friends.

Confusing stuff to wrap your head around.

But my question was essentially when will NYC recover from the shocking business, crime and now legal disasters that the city is now known for?

Well it's made a start by stopping Trump Org from doing business in the state, an institution that embodies all three. And as Bragg is a state DA, also now convicting him separately and personally for his further business, crime and legal disasters. Maybe with Trump out of the picture the average level of criminality per capita in the city will go down substantially.

New York City saw continued reductions in overall crime through the first quarter of 2024, both above ground, on streets throughout the five boroughs, and below ground, within the nation’s largest subway system. The single month of March 2024, compared to the same month last year, experienced even more drastic crime declines.
