He goes on trial before the Senate, where each party currently has 50 senators each. 67 guilty votes are needed to remove (or ban him from ever running again). No president in history has this ever happened too (Johnson in 1868 survived by 1 vote, Clinton in 1998 by 22, Trump in 2019 by 19).
All 50 Democrats will vote guilty, therefore they'll need 17 Republicans to go with them. So far 6 have said publicly that they will vote against him, and Mitt Romney (the only Republican who did last time) surely will as well so that makes 7. Loads of reports in the US media that more Republican senators are saying privately that they will vote guilty or at least are seriously considering it.
It doesn't matter if he's going in a few days anyway or even if he pardons himself (which is nonsense), if he loses the trial it means he can't run again in 2024 or for any substantial public office in the US ever again. Really hope he loses not just for that but because you know what a man-child he is, it will drive him insane that he'll be the first president who ever lost a Senate trial.

Struggling to understand how the party of Law and Order is so willing to abdicate accountability on an attack against the nation they profess to love so greatly. Well, I'm not really.

As for the first part, no because there is no evidence of any nefarious dealings by Biden Snr and if his son has done anything wrong that is for regular courts to deal with (as would be for anything Trump’s kids have done).
And whilst I can sometimes see the benefit in letting things go I don’t believe inciting an insurrection that gets people killed is one of those things you cam just wave away.

But that’s why it’s being done. The Democrats are terrified that Trump will run again. Trump won with 62 million votes, and lost with 74 million votes....now however you look at it a big chunk of the USA seems to love the man.....
Only to confirm the impeachment, that's the easy bit. They need 2/3s of the 100 US senators to convict (67). In his first trial and in Clinton's they never got close to this.
