It doesn't particularly matter.
By not impeaching we simply cede further ground to intimidation and violence. If one party refuses to do their job in office, there needs to be a record of that. Ignoring what happened may be politically expedient, but it also emboldens those that literally attempted to upend the republic yesterday.
Assuming all Dems will it still leaves a lot of GOP but they will need to look at the long term affects to him running again

I think impeachment is a political risk, but you have to take that risk every single time. The consequences of not doing that and emboldening the fascist groups in our nation are too great to ignore.

Wow. Just saw Maryland Governor, Larry Hogan, give the real story about National Guard deployment.
He got a call from Congressman Hoyer pleading for help. Hogan says ready to go he just need authorization for Maryland troops to enter the District. Needs it from the Secretary of Defense.
No word from Secretary. Calls made. No response. Members of Congress pleading for help as no Federal troops are visible.
An hour and a half later, Hogan gets a call not from the SecDef but from Secretary of the Army giving authorization on behalf of SecDef. Only then were Nat Guard troops sent and they were first to arrive in support of the Capitol Police.
Hogan, a Republican, says it best Trump leave office either by resignation or 25th Amendment.

Sorry guys. I’m just demoralized and after the 4 years ...pessimistic
If he doesn't get the Republican nomination...or at least hear noises early on that he is thought of as a front runner, he'll just run as an Independent and split the vote.
(All this being contingent on various other factors; like Trump having the money to pursue further political ambitions, or not being in jail...please, please, please...or age/health for that matter)
Biden needs to have some pretty good answers to all the up coming hard questions...and a decent successor lined up

Hmm, tricky one that, I've got to observe quite strict rules over social media due to my job (in fact I just don't use it at all). Its possible he was fired as a state department employee due to breaking a code of conduct by directly calling for the president to be removed, regardless of who's in office.
