Disagree with this.I think trump is a symptom, not the cause. zhe has certainly helped fan the flames, but the flames were already there.
You are bang on with the extreme polarising views, you even see it in the Everton forum where if you don't think we can win the league, then you must be satisfied with 15th place. Or if you don't think player x is rubbish, then you must be comparing him to Messi. People in general have lost the ability to see the middle ground, or recognise that something bad can have good points, and bad things can have good points.
Unfortunately, that is the world we live in now, and I don't see it returning to "normal" any time soon
Poor froggy.
Interesting, but I'm still on my pessimism pony so don't believe it
AgreedIf they’re not planning to even start on this until the middle of next week, the motivation is clearly geared more towards disqualifying him from running in the future as opposed to removing an immediate threat. If so, why would they even ask for, much less accept, his resignation.

It's a perfect storm, really. You take the existing large minority of people that feel the way Trump does, add a carnival barker with no shame whatsoever like Trump, add right wing conventional media and social media, and here we are.Disagree with this.
Whilst I agree there was a certain amount of dry wood lying around I believe that Trump was uniquely skilled at being able to build upon it and light it with a blend of racism and populism and then fan it with his media savvy and rhetoric.
Swap Trump out for any of the other 2016 GOP candidates and I don’t think we are in this same position, not only their personalities would have likely kept them far more within “norms” but I don’t think they would have inspired the same cult like devotion - the number of people who would storm the barricades for Ted Cruz doesn’t seem large.
As @Prevenger17 says above I see Tucker Carlson as the most likely person to be able to inherit that following.
