It's a perfect storm, really. You take the existing large minority of people that feel the way Trump does, add a carnival barker with no shame whatsoever like Trump, add right wing conventional media and social media, and here we are.

I do feel that on the balance, Trump isn't the cause, per se. If he were, once he goes away then it ends. All he did was take what already existed and lit a match. He's a rather large symptom, but ultimately the real problem is why such a large part of the electorate is, in general, highly uneducated and so ready to live an in alternate reality

Perhaps I am too optimistic but I do think some of it will be tamped down when he doesn’t have the huge megaphone he currently does.


But I sadly don’t think it will go back to pre-Trump days as once you are down that deep a rabbit hole it is very hard to pull yourself out and there will others, like Carlson, to take up the torch.

I know it sounds silly but it could put the backs up enough of the Republicans to stop them doing the obvious and turfing the orange monster out. The only one "worse" to do it would have been AOC.

That said, her bravery is through the roof. I hope her security is top notch, that's all I can say really...

Ah. If there is a few, it'd be smart to choose the one not created by Omar, for the reasons above.

Different wording could effect how many GOP senators vote for it and thus whether or not he is convicted.
Keeping it to his role in events on Wednesday only, increases chance of GOP votes.

Much more due to the latter than the former (let's face it, the Republicans have more than your usual share of obvious mad racists), but also because she's quite radical politically compared to most so she'd be more likely to get up the nose of Republicans who would otherwise swallow their pride and do the obvious.
