The first time I went to the garden to see the C’s they were playing the bulls. Can’t remember anything about the game but at half time a dwarf dressed as a leprechaun came out on the court on a tiny motorbike, then Usain Bolt came out. Bolt stood under the net holding a ball over his head. The leprichaun jumped off the bike, bounced on a trampoline, grabbed the ball and dunked it. Seems like a fever dream now but it was my intro to NBA! Love the sport now!

You started off claiming that no native tribes were offended. When you were shown evidence that native tribes actually were offended, you then changed your argument to they shouldnt be offended.
I'm not suggesting you are, but surely you can see how that makes you appear like a petty uneducated racist?

Just like anything. Some are offended most aren’t. Everyone is making such a big deal about everything from statues, monuments, names, mascots, libraries. If you can’t admit it’s ridiculous at this point, we will never see common ground. I never look at anything and see racism because I’m not offended by petty BS. Only thing I would ever think needs to be obilished is the Confederate flag but even then they have black families that still fly the flag in my state.

I think I can agree that some of it appears ridiculous and petty. The same coversations are happening in Australia too, especially in relation to aboriginal culture. But when I look deeper, I think these "petty" discussions are being promoted and kept alive by white people in power who want to distract from the real issues so they can stay in power. Black people being killed by police at a higher rate, black life expectancy being lower, black people not being given equal footing etc. These are the real issues that black people have sleepless nights about. By those in power focussing on small issues such as the name of a football team or the name of a sweet/candy/lolly, it invariably draws in people who aren't really racist and tries to make them racist by stealth by falsely claiming that black people are offended by everything and that their lifestyle and everything they have worked hard for is at risk by black people.
In short, the name of a football team isn't really the issue, black people being treated as second class citizens is. And that is manifested daily in "petty" issues such as the name of a football team.
