Personally, think Trump is been cleverly purposely stupid with the WHO stuff and the promotional video and grandstanding with the journo the day before.

An exercise in misdirection and the headlines become about him and not about the deepening horrific impact this is having in the States, different areas and different sectors.Its all propaganda and controversy as a distraction.

Not a chance they will be reducing WHO funding in my opinion, the US doesn't exist in a vacuum in the world, there will be a great show of reconciliation in a little while, just watch.

This was my take on it. While I partly agree with @Tubey ’s sentiments, I don’t believe that he’s doing it for the correct reasons but rather for his own benefit.

That would work if this was the only thing the Chinese government were up to. It isn’t - this is a regime that is according to reports incarcerating more than a million people because of their ethnicity, and who somehow are able to conduct organ transplants with far less wait times (so much so that they can be booked in advance) than the rest of the world is despite only recently getting an organ donation scheme established (mass incarceration and speedy organ transplants being two things that are probably not unrelated).

Then there is this crisis, in which even the official narrative says they tried to suppress notification of this and where two months of no action being taken did, according to them, produced far fewer deaths than anywhere else in the world.

Criticism of the Chinese government shouldn’t distract from the immense mess some governments in the West have made of this crisis, both in the years prior to it and as a response, but we really should not be trading with them to anything like the extent that we are. It’s damaging us and it’s damaging them (the Chinese people).

If people cared about all that I think we'd have been working on it already

Trump knows the USA are going to have a massive death toll from this and he's in full spin and pass the buck mode now, they'll be top of the league by some distance for deaths from Covid and Trump has had a major part to play in it, he's proved he's not the fella you want leading you in a crisis of this magnitude, only Wars on home soil claim more civilian lives.

His base isn’t big enough to elect him on their own notwithstanding the advantages the Electoral College affords the GOP. Assuming he’s got a lock on it is magical thinking (far more so than having thought Clinton had a lock on it in 2016) and perhaps an indication that he’s got you duped. Beware!

No guarantee that same effect will be seen in the US in November (especially if the GOP try the same tricks as they did in Wisconsin in urban areas) but if 2020 turnout increases that could make some of the states Trump won narrowly in 2016 very interesting....

I'm hoping the pictures and stories out of Wisconsin will help more sleepy 'Muricans wake up to the GOP's efforts at voter suppression. Under normal circumstances it's merely standard Republican deceit, but in the current epidemiological climate it's tantamount to assault. With luck the Dem boost in 2018 will gather further momentum in light of both the administration's and various state GOPs' recent behavior, and we'll get a happy enough resolution of the 2020 election that won't require widespread acts of vigilantism.
