Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

In early Spring of this year, an Air National Guard crew made a routine trip from the U.S. to Kuwait to deliver supplies. What wasn’t routine was where the crew stopped along the way: President Donald Trump’s Turnberry resort, about 50 miles outside Glasgow, Scotland. Since April, the House Oversight Committee has been investigating why the crew on the C-17 military transport plane made the unusual stay — both en route to the Middle East and on the way back — at the luxury waterside resort, according to several people familiar with the incident. But they have yet to receive any answers from the Pentagon.

The inquiry is part of a broader, previously unreported probe into U.S. military expenditures at and around the Trump property in Scotland. According to a letterthe panel sent to the Pentagon in June, the military has spent $11 million on fuel at the Prestwick Airport — the closest airport to Trump Turnberry — since October 2017, fuel that would be cheaper if purchased at a U.S. military base. The letter also cites a Guardian report that the airport provided cut-rate rooms and free rounds of golf at Turnberry for U.S. military members.

Taken together, the incidents raise the possibility that the military has helped keep Trump’s Turnberry resort afloat — the property lost $4.5 million in 2017, but revenue went up $3 million in 2018.

It wouldn't surprise you if he's not billing the taxpayer every time he and his entourage stay at Mar a Lago either.

Someone can correct me but technically yes the taxpayer would be billed. Whether trump would waive the fees is debatable but I suspect becuase the club effectively closes while he and his entourage are there.so they would.lose business if they get any to begin with.

I guarantee he is in fact going to all of his clubs and the having them bill him. I think in fact some reporter a while back confirmed this.

It's why the president has places like camp David for getaways. Which Trump has never used

I know you're not asking me but I just want to share my thoughts on this.
I'm a US citizen and for the most part, I love living here. But the land of the free, it is not.
For a start, I have to carry a government issued ID.
Every time I enter or leave, I have to give finger print and Photo info.
The patriot act has allowed the CIA to listen to all my calls (and read this, hi CIA).
The US has the highest incarceration rates in the world. Thousands are jailed for crimes that aren't crimes in a large part of the country.
Student loan debt is so high that graduates are tied in to the US system where, in a lot of cases, wages take loan repayments in to consideration. For example, a graduating nurse who has paid for their education would not be able to afford to work anywhere outside the US.
The US has so many regulations and standards that are not recognized out side of America that migrating with a US qualification is very hard.
If you are a legal resident but not a citizen, there are a million and one restrictions on your freedom.
In many states it's near impossible for women to have free control over their own bodies.
In many states felons who've served their time don't have the freedom to vote.

Lets compare this to the Republic of Ireland.
You don't have to carry a state ID.
You don't have to give bio metrics entering or leaving the country.
To the best of my knowledge, no one is bothered listening to your calls (unless it's the CIA at Shannon)
Incarceration rates are low in comparison
Student loan dept is almost non existent, Students all travel freely to other countries during and after college.
Irish people can freely live and work in 27(26) other EU countries and will still be able to live and work freely in the UK post Brexit. As well as work visa arrangements with far more countries than the US.
Women now have freedom to choose what happens their bodies.
and on and on.

I actually don't really know what makes America the land of the free.
Smacks of patriotic marketing/brainwashing to me.

Anyhoo, appologies for butting in but having gone through the process of becoming a US citizen, this always bugged me.

Yeah but your comparing a little small outpost to the USA....before even anything else is address within your post...

I love America, even as a Brit, but “Land of the Free”...? where’s that rolleyes emoji?

What was it Will McAvoy said? “207 sovereign states in the world, like 180 of them have freedom”
