To me, it's not so much what she wrote, since she was commissioned to write a fictitious ending to the Mueller-Trump-Putin story (as outlined here) and as a fiction writer she can write whatever she likes, but rather why was this idea chosen in the first place--this is the book review section, not the fiction/story section--and why they then chose to publish what she wrote. Any remotely decent editor, upon reading her piece, would have said, "no thanks...no way...way too far...hard pass" (etc.)
Today, we see folks on twitter suggesting Trump's rhetoric played a part in mail-bombs sent to Obama et al. What if a rogue secret service agent tries to assassinate Trump in the upcoming weeks? NYT's article could easily been seen as equal fodder for indirect culpability.

Yup. His speech-writers told the idiot-puppet how to act and what to say at the formal press conference, but at the rally we see the true Trump. Sadly, what rallies his puzzlingly gullible support-base is not presidential-Trump, but true-Trump, the one who mocks the disabled, the one's who cheer when he says "we're gonna build the wall", the ones who laugh when he mocks a woman recounting an attempted rape, etc., etc.,
I cannot quote him verbatim but footage of the rally was on TV a half hour ago and that was certainly the gist of what he said.
America is in a dangerous place right now.
God knows what will happen when that caravan of asylum seekers reaches Tijuana or Nuevo Laredo.
I can see a battalion of Trumpites going down there like a latter day militia.
