It's a bit of a contradiction to tacitly support something but not advocate it.

Either you don't advocate something, or you tacitly support it. Can't be both.

Matter of perspective and nuance to the words I used...

They don't believe (their perspective) the flag represents support of slavery ie not advocates (being active and public); however most other people in the US do believe this and the facts back them up so confederate flag wavers tacitly (passive and implied) support slavery from others perspective

Tacitly they are supporting slavery.

I showed my ignorance earlier on it tbh. I reckon it's highly possible that there are many Americans who aren't that up on their history and the implied message of the flag. They just like the look of it or something. Obvs there are many more who know rightly well what it conveys

Ah yes, the tax cut will benefit American workers said Republicans ...except that it hasn’t.

Can’t read half that article with all advertising pop ups. Would rather have authenticated financial bodies analyse data this early into a tax reform( very early thus far) are you an advocate for higher corporate business tax? it just drives companies away from investment. Why is Apple based In Ireland?

I’m sure some do support, but would be surprised if % was in double figures. Look at the Middle East now and Africa, slavery is prevalent. No one is concerned about this in the MSM but they seem keen to push that some Confederate flag flyers are advocates of slavery.
Because they are.

This is the ever more prevelant what aboutism that people seem to think is a defense. Just because there is slavery somewhere else doesn't mean using symbols of slave holding nations is ok. Slavery in the middle east? Bad. Flying the flag of a nation founded for the protection of slavery? Also bad.

Let's just say almost all US Blues are left of what this train wreck of a president has awoken in this country

I wouldn't necessarily say the bar is that high to be left of that
Surely some US blues are happy Trump has really shaken up the establishment? It will only make the future democrats realise you can’t ignore and treat regular tax paying citizens as complete mugs and not always focus on minorities. Dems sometimes have to put their own citizens first!

Tacitly they are supporting slavery. They have a problem of not believing facts in evidence and deciding something means what they want it to mean because it makes them feel better about themselves, their culture, their history.
This is spot on. It's not active support but it's what the symbols represent. There is no way around it

Slavery actually happening is worse than, cradling a symbol that represented it in the past! That’s a fact no matter how you dress it up.

But neither is ok. And raising the issue of slavery somewhere else doesn't make the prominence of slave supporting symbols in the US not a problem. Saying flying the Confederate flag because it's not as bad as having actual slaves isn't a reasonable defense
