It's not in the least bit necessary in these cases, its brutal and inhumaneWhat I am trying to find out is would the children be thrown in a cell with their parents, or not?
I completely agree children in general shouldn't be removed from their parents unless absolutely necessary, like when they are taken into care because their parents are drug addicts, etc.
Just trying to find out a bit more background to determine an opinion on it myself.
It surely is brutal, inhumane and morally wrong, however rightly or wrongly I feel the administration will privately see it as very much a necessary component. It's not in the least bit necessary in these cases, its brutal and inhumane
As long as this awful treatment is being carried out on a certain type of people, then it won't hit home in terms of public outrage, that's the short and tall of itIt surely is brutal, inhumane and morally wrong, however rightly or wrongly I feel the administration will privately see it as very much a necessary component.
I see it simply as another tool of making an already incredibly difficult and emotion decision for many families even harder - in essence, divide and conquer.
Some, if not many, of the families will continue to try to reach the US, yet if it stops even a percentage from attempting it because of fear then it's worked.
What is more worrying for me however, is that such horrible treatment is being accepted by many and will only facilitate further mistreatment in the future.
I totally agree. Yet, just look around at the likes of Italy and Turkey who are suppressing the ideas of tolerance and freedom - a worrying trend is emerging. As long as this awful treatment is being carried out on a certain type of people, then it won't hit home in terms of public outrage, that's the short and tall of it
Bad as this is, and I believe emotionally traumatizing kids because their parents committed a misdemeanor looking for a better life is very very bad, things are going to get worse. What is more worrying for me however, is that such horrible treatment is being accepted by many and will only facilitate further mistreatment in the future.
You might find this article usefulWhere are the children being taken to? Like a children's jail? Or are there being humanely looked after until their parents are dealt with?
If the children were kept with their parents, would they be in jail, or how would that work? And are parents taking their children across the border because they think it helps them avoid punishment?
Trying to find answers to these questions so that I can give a balanced and fair opinion on this.
Like I said before, I unfortunately feel that perhaps poor treatment, harsh conditions and personal suffering are part of the overall image they desire.Bad as this is, and I believe emotionally traumatizing kids because their parents committed a misdemeanor looking for a better life is very very bad, things are going to get worse.
You don’t separate 2000 children from their family in a hastily designed program in the heat of summer that has ramped up hiring quicky without there being neglect by poorly trained/overworked carers, abusers being recruited and understandably emotional kids acting out their distress with suicide attempts or the acting out leading to harsh punishment.
There is also very little planning for how to reunite all the kids once their parents have been processed and even with the best systems things go wrong but when Amazon lose a package somewhere along the delivery chain it can be replaced - this time the item in question could be a 7 year old.
Here is official CBP videoI don't think they are putting children in cages like. Unless somebody can show us a legitimate pic of it happening.
they're wrongHate him or hate him he's living up to his manifesto. They say every country has the government it deserves,or should that read circus.
Hmm. Are they sleeping in those cages for days on end? Or is it just while they are processed and sorted with a better place to stay while their parents are dealt with? Here is official CBP video

The government is not allowing any independent pictures at any of the shelters and indeed has only given tours of the shelters holding boys over 10. There has been no acces by either elected representatives, or video/pictures, to the shelters holding girls or toddlers.
And seriously “not putting them in cages” is the line you’d draw in the sand as to whether this is abhorrent? They could have access to the presidential suite at Trump hotel and it wouldn’t make a difference to a 5 year old ripped from their mum for weeks.
A maximum of 72 hours is I believe the guidelines before moved to a shelter but have seen no stats given by the government as to how often that is achieved or any breakdown of ages of kids the average wait applies to eg babies 3 hours, toddlers 5, older teenagers a coupe of nights etc.Hmm. Are they sleeping in those cages for days on end? Or is it just while they are processed and sorted with a better place to stay while their parents are dealt with?
