the woman who said this
"We do not have a policy of separating families at the border. Period."
Is formalizing a plan to end said policy.
A woman who is supporting a man who, in an interview, told the press that that the contents of a letter were great - we'd love to see them apparently.

To then claim he hadn't read the letter. So, she's doing nothing more than emulating their 'great and dear leader'. Oh sorry, that's another tyrannical leader.

People will need a find another reason to be furious with Donald after this.
There's always another reason.

Meanwhile, today's poll shows him up to 48% approval. This is crap of course, but that's what you'll hear in response to the next hundred hours of crying children on the news.

Some cynical types might say that when the opposition is reduced to "what about the children" it means that you're winning. Personally, I try to fight becoming that cynical. I try, honest I do.

Since 2008, more Mexicans have been leaving the United States than arriving.

Most of the people arriving now are Central American refugees, fleeing the drug wars which of course the United States has done so much to foster and aggravate.

They are not, for the most part, "illegal" immigrants but legitimate asylum seekers, and as such, they are entitled to a series of basic rights under American and international law.

They are not likely to stop arriving, no matter how ghastly the Americans behave, because they are fleeing situations like this:

Ana Ramírez, 34, arrived here 12 days ago from the violent coastal city of Acapulco in southern Mexico, with three children aged 11 to 17 and her 18-month-old grandson. They fled after armed men threatened to kill the family unless the oldest boy – a 14-year-old high-school student – agreed to sell drugs for their gang. The same men took away three of his classmates, who have not been seen since.Ramírez reported the threat to authorities, who advised the family to leave. Terrified, they abandoned their house, clothes, toys, her hotel job and the children’s schooling and borrowed money to fly to Tijuana. On Tuesday, the family was 400th in the asylum queue – down from more than 1,000 12 days ago.Ramírez, like most of women here, was unaware of the new curbs on victims of gang violence and domestic abuse announced last week by the US attorney general. Asylum is for people fleeing persecution because of their religion, political beliefs or membership in a social group, Jeff Sessions said, not those fleeing crime.Ramírez had come prepared with a police report, which she believed would persuade US immigration authorities to grant asylum. “I have proof, if we go back, they will take my son or kill us all, I’m trying to keep my family together … I’m seeking asylum, I wouldn’t enter illegally".

If you're interested in this topic, you might find it helpful to read more about it, in reliable news sources, instead of asking random posters on a football forum what to think...
You make an excellent point. These folks are running away to what they perceive to be the rule of law from a lawless place. They are not running away from a place, they are running away from people. Bad people. It would be simple if the bad people weren't running in the same direction in a manner indistinguishable from the good ones. Perhaps the stance of "catch and release or we'll show crying children 20 hours a week" will produce what you want. We will see.

Trump's doing something as I speak as an exec order, but who knows what kind of thing he's going to put out there. Whatever it is, I have five bucks that says Scott Adams thinks its genius.

haha yea, that seems like 2 months ago but it was only last week!

There are ways to distinguish them and prosecute them but Trump has sacrificed that in order to go after thousands of misdemeanors. Instead of using his resources to pinpoint the problem, he's using his resources to try and drum up huge numbers to make a point about his wall.
Make no mistake, he doesn't care about a wall but he knows it plays well with his base.
This is all cynical politics and Trump is playing on the xenophobic nature of his base.
Seems he pushed it too far. I wonder if Miller gets praise or punishment.

There is almost certainly no room in family detention centers. The children only shelters were already overflowing, hence the tent cities being errectef, and some adults were already being sent to prisons as their facilities were full.

If Trump told you all that tomorrow was Thursday you would call him a liar and prove without a shadow of doubt that Obama would have made it a Tuesday. Even when he belatedly understands that segregation of children is not very clever, you still condemn him. Why not just be honest and say you hate the man and nothing he ever does will suffice.....

Like you'd ever have approved of Obama.

He doesn't exactly make it difficult.

What poll?

I don't even know what that's meant to mean.

You could respond to the criticisms, instead of making silly hyperbolic remarks like that - while bringing Obama up yet again.

He's absolutely worthy of condemnation over this and if you are baffled by that I can't help you.

Alot of people hate him - I've said I do plenty of times in this thread.

or maybe some of us would be happy to see the end of a barbaric act, but don't let this stop you and @mezzrow from using the issue to score points, quite disgusting really, and it doesn't change what has already happened which he still has to answer for

To expect credit for stopping ‘beating your wife’ seems more than a bit ‘below stairs’ for me . Don’t get me wrong I’m glad it’s happened but don’t expect a pint and a pat on the back for it .

Lad, he could achieve world peace and you would still find sticks to beat him with.
