I am not saying the teams are exactly the same, I’m saying that both Lukaku and yak played as lone strikers in systems, formations and teams that aren’t to dissimilar and therefore would improve us if we had one of them today. They would still score goals as they have done their whole career and we would probably be 10 points better off. Surely you can’t think we haven’t been crying out for a real striker all season? These are the two best strikers we have had in the past 20 years ( bar Rooney but he wasn’t at his best when with us). So you really think if we had anyt two of the best two striker we have had in the prem , in our team now, we wouldn’t be any higher in the table? If that’s the case then we might as well not even shop for a striker seeing as they don’t get us any further up the table

I think both were one dimensional to be honest, were very good at that dimension mind, but well rounded players they werent. Im saying that the system of the high press requires a mobile athelthic forward who can press through the centre. I dont think Yak or Lukaku would give us that. Yes they might get 15 -20 goals but i suspect we might have lost to Arsenal at the weekend and had more 3-2's etc. Its subjective of course. Its ok not to agree with on it.

Would like to see him get a call up to the England squad as recognition of his progress this season. Hasn't that Solanke been involved with the main squad? I may be mistaken, but if so how can anybody choose him over DCL? Even excluding that, Kane is out and it would be a great opportunity to see what he can do on the bigger stage, even if it's just for 20 minutes off the bench. What better way to show you have faith in players who have proven themselves in the 21s and with their teams in the Premier League? This is no way stating I think he's a better option than Vardy or Rashford, but I do genuinely think he's as good as Wilson and who else is there, really?

We may have lost to arsenal but we could have also beaten Huddersfield , Brighton etc . Goal scorers are the rarest commodity in football and that’s why they cost so much.

Its subjective mate and likely down to your view point. I agree they are rare, i think if you naturally have one then fine you build around them, but i think we are doing it differently and i think that is the right move. You can have and we have had players who will score 20 goals a season and thats fine, but if you have four players who can get 15 goals a season and also be part of the high press that is better. Thats what i think we are moving towards if im honest. I dont see us going out and dropping 40-70 million on a striker to be frank. Like i say i think we will go for someone like and has the attributes of an Andy Johnson rather then Yak or Lukaku, who i think wouldnt really fit into what we are trying to do.

If im being honest i believe the role of a forward is changing similar to the role of full backs and goal keepers, you are now looking at broader skill sets expected in forwards. they need to defend and be part of the defensive system, they need to be mobile, athelthic, decoys, space creaters and have a defensive role. Yak and Lukaku didnt have those skills for me, great slotters though. Its similar to full backs who now need to be able attack, cross, assists and defend. Keepers becoming sweepers and having good distribution etc. The game and positions evolve. Its why i think your comparisons on players from the 5 and 10 years ago arent apt.

Said it before, if he was with the rs or untd he'd already be in the squad

The question is will Calvert Lewin become a future Harry Kane or a future Andy Carroll
The troubles Andy Carroll had are largely down to him being unwilling to properly look later his body. Too much drink and drugs by all accounts.

I’d be very surprised if DCL even had a dabble with all that stuff. He seems a model professional and is completely committed to his job.

Absolutely this. Never been in the papers. Never spoken out of turn. Never reacted badly on the field. Respectful in interviews, speaks confidently when interviewed, comes across extremely mature. Definitely a professional.

Personally I think his ceiling is higher than both of them.

Kane is a fantastic goalscorer but I think DCL has more to his game. DCL is far more athletic and when he fills out will bully the hell out of defenders.

He has the talent. He certainly has the fitness. The only thing he lacks is confidence and the coolness a top striker must have in front of the goal. The more starts Silva gives him, the more confident he’ll become. With confidence, the goals will come.

I’m confident with this prediction.
