Do Everton need to rest the goalkeeper ?

Does our goalie really need to be rested for a big game ?

Disappointed when I heard Joel was starting. He has no presence and doesn't command the area. He doesn't even shout to his defence! I have no confidence in him and as much as I'll back him hen he plays, he doesn't fill me with confidence.

I can't stress enough the importance of playing Howard against Arsenal!!

Neither does Howard. Hence why theres an ironic cheer anytime he comes and catches a ball.

Been much improved over the last 14 or so months, tbh.

Think he's as good as we need at the moment, Howard.

Better than last season, but still making silly mistakes here and there. Few times this season he's let goals in where he should do better.

As a goalkeeper, I'm horrified at the prospect of Robles getting more games as an Everton player. He is a coward, and this was embodied last season in a breakaway in which he slid feet first into a tackle in the box. I believe it was in a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal. There is absolutely no excuse for this, as a GK he has to be coming hands first for the ball with his body protecting the far side of the goal. As soon as I saw that I knew that he lacked the mental edge to play top flight football.
If I had ever pulled that move I would have been pulled out of net and beat senseless by my GK coach.

Full strength XI versus Arsenal please. Pretty sure Robles was number 1 for Wigan in the league too at the tail end of last season, so not sure there's a precedent for Roberto playing his 2nd choice keeper in the latter stages of the cup.

Howard is numero uno, so, again, first choice available XI v Arsenal, please.

Behave lid, you're serious? Off one save you've decided our young goalie is useless and the idea of him playing horrifies you?
Are you actually the big man himself?

Either Joel's been spending too much time on the piano and has forgotten how to kick a football and/or he doesn't talk to his defenders enough.. lots of mishaps in the making..

I thought his kicking was bloody awful on Sun, he looked like he was kicking with his wrong foot regardless of whether he used his left or right.

Which is quite worrying, if he can't kick well now he probably never will do.

Don't see him as a No.1 GK for a top side tbh. But he is young so plenty of time to prove me wrong and improve.

If I was EFC manager I'd be looking to get finances in place to be ready to move for begovic once he's ready to move on.

Could have a good chance IMO with city, Chelsea, Arse, Liverpool and spurs already having good young keepers!
