Do Everton need to rest the goalkeeper ?

Does our goalie really need to be rested for a big game ?

Agree with Azz and dont think he was to bad today, kicking wasn't great but then some of the balls played back to him weren't great either.

I'm all for using the squad and getting some game time for the fringe players but only in the right games and not when the individual , for whatever unexplainable reasons seems to have such an impact across the complete back four.

'affected'

Held on to a lot of balls that Tim would've been havin' ticks over, didn't think he did bad at all tbh. in 1st half it was the defence that seemed intent on providing an assist like in previous years.

Didn't think his distribution was up to much. He just kept aimlessly hitting it long, although that can be worked on, other than that I thought Joel was alright.

I don't think its about resting Howard, more so keeping your backup happy and him having game time under his belt incase he's needed for a longer period. And of course to aid his development.

I don't think he's good enough to be our long term No.1. When Howard's time is up I'm hoping to god we go in and get begovic.

Tough question.

I've always thought that it was good to have your backup goalkeeper get games where he can because you need to give them game experience where possible.

That said, the last rounds of the FA Cup are big matches.

Very tough call but I'd stick with Joel here. Could easily make a good argument for Howard though.

Don't listen to 'em, Joel.

...I'm not so sure he's 'resting' Howard, I think its more that he rates Robles and wants to build up his experience. He looks to me like he's got all the tools for the job and might be RMs longer-term no1 as opposed to being a second string.

I doubt Howard sits out from here on out...Bobby must have felt he could risk it against Swansea at homr, but Robles does not inspire confidence right now.
