Completely agree with you on all your points there RFUS.

Although I would have liked to have had him as he would no doubt have added something to the team, there's no way he's worth £70k a week, he'd be our top earner (Or on parity with Arteta) which he in no way shape or form deserves.

You cannot blame a player for choosing to go for a £20k (approx.) higher wage. Especially with his dodgy knee(s), short careers and all that.

It's June and there's a long way to go, we WILL sign players.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm happy he's not at Everton. But his knees make any deal very risky, I don't think Everton are in any position to overpay a player who has this sort of injury risk.

I'm assuming this isn't/wasn't our number 1 striking target, and more a case of a good deal if you can get it?

Kinda like if I you where looking to buy a new 50 inch plasma, but in the meantime, someone offered you an old 42 inch LCD for free, but you have to go and buy all the cables and wall brackets separately, and you obviously don't get the warrantee, etc...

Im not that bothered to be honest, i rate the lid, but after seeing his career goal scoring record - which isnt necessariy anythingbetter then what we have, his injury record and the fact he looked for 75 k a week - this one wasnt right for us.

If Newcastle are willing to pay him 75k a week - im amazed but not that surprised - this has all the hall marks of a Newcastle transfer - expect him to be at Stoke in the next two years.

Just read the article - Thanks mate for keeping us all in the loop....and I agree, he aint work £70K pw...never in a million years, the club were spot on not to bow to the demands - if word of his contract had leaked to the others, they would all be knocking on Moyes's door.

Thanks for letting us know LCAB, even though we need a striker who can score goals he isn't worth £70k per week, especially with his injury record as it is. Time to move on to other targets now I think.
