I think that derby is going to go down in folklore as an example of just how fragile Everton have become mentally in the last few years. I have to concede that in the Moyes era this hangover would not have lingered.

It's incredible, it had to be THAT match where it all fell apart didn't it. But you are right, just weak individuals.

But it didn't really fall apart during that game did it. A freak occurrance in the 95th minute followed by a goalkeeping wrong decision caused the trauma.
BTW with present form I wouldn't blame Picks for trying to catch the ball in such a situation, if he put it over for a corner, they'd surely score from that.

It fell apart directly after that game, might of been 96th minute but it was still that game that we seen a downturn after.

The most frutrating thing is in November they looked like they were getting to grips with it. Since the Derby they've become even worse at it. No strong characters in this team.

There's not that many of those types around anymore. It's been said more than once that players now are like robots on the pitch rather than being able to make decisions themselves

I don't even think the ref would've give a corner. It was already a minute over the allocation

City use the system don't they? It failed when Arse got their goal yesterday. Even with top players its not 100%.
Neither does man marking. The issue at hand is that people are blindly blaming zonal marking, rather than looking at the actual underpinning issues.

We have players who seem unable to attack a ball as required, and a manager who appears unable to rectify the situation through effective coaching.

I wouldn't be confident if we went to man-to-man marking as I think we'd still make the same faults. It's the same with our offensive corners where we're inept.
