Our two full backs seem to get sucked into the middle - on set pieces and in normal play leaving the opposing wingers too much wide space inviting crosses - then gaining corners ...
The full backs today were to be blunt crap.......

I agree. All the teams we have played this season have been allowed too much space out wide. It could be an instruction to have our full backs play narrow to defend the box better!!!! I don't know but you are right and it always provides an easy out ball for the opposition.

The room wingers v us have is the downfall to concede set pieces in the first place, look where Baines was to concede the pen and he never closed the supply down ala Coleman too today wingers v us get too much room on each flank it's a recurring problem for us defensively- then the inability to defend ant crosses with zonal marking also no full back on a post......

Becoming a real concern. 4 games and in 3 of those conceded from a corner. Doesn’t seem to matter what personnel we put out, the same mistakes happen.

It's going to be a massive downfall this season if Silva doesn't sort it.

I just don't think our defenders are intelligent/switched on enough to use zonal marking.

Every goal we've conceded this season, bar the Neves fk, has either directly or indirectly (Baines foul v B'mouth) come from a cross into the box.

Needs to improve or it's going to be costing us even more.

Zonal can take an extremely long time to train out. It's brave and some top coaches swear by it. At the moment though, it is repeatingly punishing us!
